Edmonton Chamber of Commerce’s Post

The Oilers' playoff run was fantastic for our city, especially downtown. Heather Thomson, our VP of Research, Strategy, and Engagement, perfectly summed it up: "We got to see how downtowns are supposed to feel from a place of vibrancy, and when things feel vibrant, they feel safe." Keep building off of the momentum and positive energy. As a resident of the Downtown since 2005, it still very much needs to see a return of some key brands, retailers and offerings; while tricky given the new hybrid work environments and retail realties, it is great to see so many committed to restoring the Downtown. How great would it be to see a gravitypope or lululemon on 104st or adidas lifestyle store on Jasper or near ICE District. Imagine a return of someone like Harry Rosen to Commerce Place and a La Maison Simons downtown format in Edmonton City Centre. Think about the possibilities of an urban IKEA in Fox II for all of those current and future residents of the core. Greater retail options in the core are very much needed to compliment the #urban lifestyle experience and enhance the street level foot fall that is returning.

How do we build off of it before the next one? Which hopefully is next season :)
