I would just add that perceptions of hotel brands are also shaped by customers' and potential customers' knowledge about other aspects of the brand beyond just its products and services. Areas such as Innovation, Ethics and Transparency, Management Styles and Leadership, Work Environment, Environmental and Social Sustainability, and Financial Performance are also aspects that, if well communicated to the right audiences, and if reality does indeed match the perceptions, will help create positive perceptions about the brand and, above all, assist in differentiation in an increasingly competitive sector. I have no doubt that this strategic communication effort will contribute to the brand's attractiveness and will end up reflected in the desired direct sales.

Since our engagement in February, we've been scouting for the perfect wedding venue. Visiting various potential venues over several weekends, it's been easy to get lost in the romance of each. What has been really interesting, although not so interesting to Louise, is the marketing approach behind each venue. From the initial enquiry to receiving an estimate and the seamless transition from online to offline customer experiences, the wedding industry is far more innovative and user-centric than I'd imagined. Other sectors could benefit from replicating these strategies and I would urge any marketers and designers to do a bit of a deep-dive when they have the time. Here's us looking out over Windermere from the enviously positioned Linthwaite House Hotel. Not the location we'll be going for but certainly a very beautiful one.
