I think that local contents should be an essential requirement and evaluation criteria for protecting domestic companies. However, if the evaluation criteria for local contents infringe on fair competition in the international community or serve as an entry barrier that seriously hinders the entry of foreign companies into the market, it will certainly be subject to restrictions from the international community such as the WTO. In the end, protecting domestic companies through local contents while at the same time presenting foreign companies with alternative evaluation criteria that can make up for it at a reasonable level will be the way to fair trade and coexistence.

🌍🚢 MTCC Africa to Embark on an Exciting New Phase with the Global Maritime Technology Cooperation Centres Network (GMN) Project 🌱💡 Big news from MTCC Africa! We are thrilled to announce our continued involvement in the second phase of the GMN project, a significant international effort led by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and supported by the European Commission (EC). This new phase aims to upscale the impactful work initiated by the five regional MTCCs, including our centre in Africa. 🔹 Phase II: A Leap Forward: Building on the success of Phase I, which focused on establishing MTCCs and initiating pilot projects, the second phase brings a €10 million, four-year commitment to advance maritime technology and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This phase will particularly focus on: ~Implementing energy efficiency measures and technologies at ports. ~Retrofitting domestic vessels under 5,000 GT for better environmental performance. 🔹 Strengthening Partnerships: An exciting aspect of Phase II is the emphasis on fostering public-private partnerships. These collaborations are essential for the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of the MTCCs' initiatives. 🔹 Global Goals, Local Impact: The GMN Phase II project aligns with the 2023 IMO GHG Strategy and other IMO-implemented projects like IMO CARES, GreenVoyage2050, GHG SMART, and FIN-SMART. By connecting MTCCs with technology providers and addressing local decarbonization challenges, the project aims to bring tangible benefits to LDCs and SIDS. 🔹 MTCC Africa's Role: As MTCC Africa, we are dedicated to supporting our region in meeting IMO's energy-efficiency and greenhouse-gas reduction targets. ENTSOG was pleased to start the 3rd year of “post Brexit” cooperation with UK gas TSOs by hosting the 7th #EU-#UK #TSOs TF meeting at our offices in Brussels.   The meeting was a good occasion to foster constructive exchanges on the newly adopted EU #Hydrogen & #Decarbonised Gas Package and its implications for EU-UK interactions, where close cross-border #cooperation between EU-UK TSOs will continue to remain crucial. ENTSOG also provided updates on its #TYNDP 2024 process, seasonal supply outlooks and SoS simulation.   As underlined by ENTSOG General Director Piotr Kus “with this #cooperation, ENTSOG and UK TSOs are not only fulfilling the requirements of the Trade & Cooperation Agreement concluded between the EU and GB, they are also building a stronger, more resilient and sustainable cross-border market at the advantage of both the EU and the UK, in terms of Security of Gas Supply and decarbonisation notably”   Thanks to Nicolas Van der Maren, Ronan Haas and all contributors for preparing very good content of the EU-UK Gas TSOs TF meeting.
