I will be attending and hosting tomorrow's Round Table on Cable Route Clearance with experts Chris Weaver Lawrence Smith (B.Eng MBA MIET MSuT) Jerry Brown @stuartwilson, Route Engineering and Survey Manager at OceanIQ I am very excited to hear and to share the knowledge of our panel experts who will be diving deep into the following questions (no pun intended ;) - 1. Why is it so important to clear a route of debris and particularly disused cables before installing a new one? 2. How do we establish the status of an existing cable where it’s crossed by a new cable? Which are operational and need to be protected and which are out-of-service and can be removed? 3. If a cable is damaged during installation operations because the route clearance was incomplete, what could be the cost of a repair and who would pay? 4. How deep could out-of-service cables be buried and will a towed grapnel train or a detrenching grapnel snag them? 5. Are we burying cables so deep that they are beyond the detection range of most current instruments? 6. How useful are cable installation records when a buried OOS cable has to be removed from a cable crossing area? 7. When conducting a PLGR to remove surface debris, how far in advance of the cable lay should this occur? Please join us. Register here: https://lnkd.in/gbJQAS5x
