🌿 Exploring MINDS' Vision: Why it Matters 🌱 MINDS' Conference envisions a world where academia isn't just about individual achievement, but about fostering deep connections and collaboration. But why is this vision so important? 🌐 Academia often feels isolating despite surface-level communication through publications, presentations, and conferences. But true innovation thrives on collaboration and support. MINDS seeks to bridge this gap by fostering connections. 🤝 Deep-rooted connections in academia are crucial. They lead to cross-disciplinary collaborations, enriching research, and supportive environments where everyone can thrive. 🌳 Drawing inspiration from nature, particularly "The Hidden Life of Trees" by Peter Wohlleben, we find incredible parallels. Trees, though individual, thrive on connections. Can academia do the same? 🌿 Trees communicate, share resources, and support each other through interconnected roots. Similarly, academia can benefit from fostering a network where knowledge flows freely, aiding growth and resilience. 💡 Perhaps it's time to shift our thinking. Instead of isolated pursuits, let's cultivate a culture of collaboration and support, just like the interconnected trees in a forest. MINDS' vision offers a blueprint for a more vibrant academic ecosystem.

1 Week!😃📆 On 23rd November 11:00-12:30 CET Join the new "FAIR-IMPACT Implementation Workshop", focused on "Community Engagement: why it is key for Open Science and how to unleash it"😉, organised with the support from Skills4EOSC. REGISTER https://lnkd.in/dz9VWw8K The transition to Open Science is a complex process which entails a culture change in academia. Theories of culture change have identified Community Engagement as one of the most potent strategies to stimulate large-scale behavioral change – yet in the context of Open Science, Community Engagement is often overlooked or underestimated. In this session, we identify what Community Engagement is and how you can stimulate it. In particular, we focus on the growing International Network of Open Science and Scholarship Communities (INOSC), which has rapidly evolved into a network of 32 local hubs across 16 countries, with over 2300 researchers, ready to put Open Science to practice. We’ll explore how the principles of Community Engagement are put to practice in INOSC and how you can benefit from those in your local context. Asking better questions about the future of humanity is the central idea of The Fifth Element initiative by The Club of Rome. We ask if we can mobilise intergenerational collaboration to foster the systems transformation we need to overcome the existential challenges we face today. We teamed up with the St. Gallen Symposium to create the New Generational Contract, an initiative focusing on creating equity and mutual support and learning between generations to share a common responsibility for our future. How can leaders tackle the challenges of rapidly changing events amid an overload of information, sometime inaccurate and untrustworthy? How do they consistently adjust their vision and strategy in an ever-changing and unpredictable global landscape? That's where the World Economic Forum's Strategic Intelligence comes in! 🌍 Last summer I had the pleasure of co-curating a map with partners from Missions Publiques' Global #FellowshipProgram (https://bit.ly/3r6qPWg), an interesting opportunity to shape the narrative and contribute to discussions surrounding (civic) #participation, #governance, and #societal impact. 👉Explore the 6 trends in #civic participation, regarding #AI, the varying perceptions of the 21st century's relevance in people's lives, the #erosion of trust in traditional authority, the evolving power dynamics driven by decentralized citizen empowerment, the influence of major social media platforms that we've aptly named the "new decision-makers" and more. ➡️Check it out now and share your thoughts: https://lnkd.in/emDx3jer Thank you Missions Publiques for your initiative! #civilsociety #civicengagement #participation #democracy #ai #power #politics #decisionmaking #policymaking

It's very important, as a people to know ourselves and understand our value system, because if we don't know what our value system is, then we don't know what risks are worth taking and which ones are worth avoiding. As the year comes to an end, it’s time we celebrate the small wins and defeats we have faced. As a descendant of the Global South, who values knowledge and wisdom, I celebrate yet another small win of Graduating with another Master's in Global Development and Planning from the University of Agder, Norway. As the purpose of education is to replace an empty mind with an open one, the year 2023 gave birth to the Elite-Acme Consultancy (www.elite-acme.zw) Initiative which is a foundation to the broader value system that has been impacted in us. Because intellectual growth commences at birth and ceases only at death, the TMG blog (www.takudzwagwazem.com) has been a vital cog in disseminating my thoughts to the public. Next year we must unite in our differences because society is unity in diversity and we must continue to share our similarities and celebrate our differences. We also failed to live up to our expectations of The Gap Podcast, (https://lnkd.in/dQcmERZU), we shall try again to do better in 2024. Adios 2023🫡
