Golf for the HEROs Vision and Motivation: Enhancing the Game of Golf: We aim to foster new relationships and enhance the game of golf through innovative tournament concepts that allow professionals to compete alongside beginners. Inspiration from Mentorship: Inspired by my mentor, Dick Garn, and his Oldsmobile Scramble, I designed the Big Blitz to provide a unique tournament experience leveraging modern technology. Key Features: Financial Structure: One of the most significant features of the Big Blitz is the ability to use 20% of the fees to support PGA HOPE, The HERO Project, and the Wounded Warriors Project while awarding 70% to the prize pool. This ensures substantial support for noble causes and a significant return for participants. Event Types: We offer various event types to cater to different preferences: $10 winner-take-all $10 and $26 events with one winner for every 10 participants $25 events with one winner for every 40 entries Inclusivity and Accessibility: The format includes a free-to-play component and ensures that participation does not impact amateur status, making it accessible to players of all skill levels. Global Reach: With the capability to access the tournament from a smartphone, our goal is to add a global component, connecting golf enthusiasts worldwide. Personal Commitment: Long-Term Dedication: I have been working on these ideas since the late '70s and am committed to their long-term success, believing in their potential to revolutionize the sport. Community and Relationships: Our project aims to bring people together, fostering new relationships within the sports communities. Call to Action: Support and Participation: We are now seeking support to publicize and expand the project. Join us on this journey, contribute to the growth of this innovative golf tournament, and help us support PGA Golf, The HERO Project, and the Wounded Warriors Project. Our website can be found at www.thebigblitz.com. Events are FREE while we build the members' roster. This is going to be such a great event. Take a look at the article and then let me know if you'd like to come with me. #yeg #yegbusiness
The Mill Craft Bar + Kitchen at 4810 Calgary Trail South, Edmonton, will be hosting a fundraiser for the R&R Empowering Society of Alberta to help individuals from diverse backgrounds learn from each other's experiences and knowledge with regard to people, cultural and professional skills required to navigate through life and build a cohesive, successful society. The Story... On December 19, 2016, my husband and I found our two sons, Ryder (13) and Radek (11) murdered by their biological father at his home in Spruce Grove, AB. My sons moved there just three months earlier in order to play hockey at a higher level. In the minutes, days and months following their deaths, I couldn’t imagine how my life could move forward without them, but I did remember lying in their beds that fateful night and making them a promise to keep their legacies alive and let the world know their names. Yesterday morning Tasker Goodchild and Tracy Stark were hosted on Global television to speak to the event. To learn more about Tracy's story, find details about this event, and purchase tickets visit our website at www.sawmill.ca https://lnkd.in/e_Je3m6F

Sligo Fall Team Tournament – Tues. Oct. 3, 2023 - TOURNAMENT IS FULL! THANKS! We hope everyone is doing well and you got to play Sligo a few times. Also, if you haven’t been to one of the Friday evening (6-8 pm) live music events – come on down! It’s a fabulous series of local bands with lots of fun, good food, drink, and dancing. It is that time of year when we are gearing up for the Fall Sligo Team Challenge Tournament. You can rally your old team to challenge for the cup. If you don't have a team, we can slot in singletons. Access the registration form at: https://lnkd.in/gG7W9b7j Tuesday, October 3: 3:00 check-in; 3:30 shotgun start. You’ll get 9 holes of golf, BBQ spread (burgers, hot dogs, veg burgers, sides, cookies), and drinks. Our usual “Captain’s Choice” team format. *** E-mail me with your team name and players, so I can put a placeholder. *** If you’re paying by old-fashioned check, physically mail the completed registration form and check prior to tournament day. *** If you are paying by PayPal or Venmo, e-mail me a scan of the completed registration form and complete payment online. *** If you are paying by Cash on the day of the tournament, e-mail me a scan of the completed registration form. Paying before tournament day really makes the check-in process go smoother when all you have to worry about is buying your raffle tickets and mulligans! This is the main fundraiser for all the Sligo course improvements. Since 2007, we have raised and spent almost $100,000 on projects including: stage extension/future beer garden; new planters; annual flowers; new tee signs; rebuilding sand traps; rebuilding tees; water/erosion mitigation projects; benches; bridge repairs; parking lot repairs. Remember – $50 of your fee is tax deductible and all proceeds go to course improvement projects. Please forward this note to others that you know may be interested. Thanks and see you at the course! *SUPER BOWL TRIVIA ALERT* We take a moment away from the practice of law to prepare for this week's big game. Anyone who knows me well knows my love of sports trivia. In college and in law school, I organized trivia tournaments for charity that were based a format that my dad and grandfather taught me on road trips to various sports events growing up. I usually satisfy my fix at this time of the year by listening to Chris "Mad Dog" Russo's annual super bowl trivia contest, but that contest is not taking place. To fill the void, I have assembled the attached list of questions about the Super Bowl and/or this year's two participants. They generally progress from easier to more difficult throughout. I welcome all participants (just submit your forms via email to MOG@gatewood-law.com ... and if you want a Word version of the document, just shoot me an email). There are 80 questions with 175 points possible. I will send the person who scores the most points a championship trophy and will announce the top 5 scores next week. (No research or googling is allowed!). Even if you don't think you will fare well, if you make an attempt I will send you the answer key so that you can impress your friends and family during Sunday's game. Feel free to share with anyone you may know who is a sports fan. Good luck! (you'll need it)

In May, US polo team captain Maggie Steffens asked for financial help on Instagram. Flavor Flav – William Jonathan Drayton Jr – answered the call: “As a girl dad and supporter of all women’s sports, imma personally sponsor you, my girl, whatever you need. And imma sponsor the whole team.” Flav signed a five-year sponsorship deal to “elevate the visibility and excitement surrounding water polo in the United States.” The sponsorship includes personal appearances and financial contributions to help with equipment, facilities, and anything else they need. This is how it’s done 👏
