Yamaha Motor Ventures (YMV) provides insightful lessons on navigating this journey. When YMV established its $100M sustainability fund in 2022, decarbonization startups were the prime focus. Barça Innovation Hub, the club's corporate VC arm, has already invested in Visualfy, Oliver, and Onalabs. It's noteworthy that even though they are restructuring its business to deal with its debt commitments with a media-for-equity model, it decided to launch this venture. But what's the driving force behind this unconventional strategy? The initiative extends beyond financial transactions. Barça Innovation Hub is not merely a financial player; it's a catalyst for knowledge dissemination. Through online education covering innovation, talent promotion, and development from a sporting perspective, the club is positioning itself as a hub for learning and growth. Swiss sportech startup Coachbetter founded by Patrick Patzig, Simon Arpagaus, Stefan Steuble, and Thomas Grimm simplifies these procedures by offering a comprehensive snapshot of schedules, venues, and players’ advancements, all conveniently accessible. In a recent development, Coachbetter has scored $2.9 million in a seed-plus investment round led by Brighteye Ventures and ZEN11Holding.
