function > form I've been challenging myself to work entirely from XR, alternating between the Quest 3 and Vision Pro every other day. The goal is to really live the experience and find what's missing. when using the Vision Pro, I was barely able to make it an hour without taking it off. the official light seal puts too much pressure on my cheeks and if I don't put it on "right" my eyes get dry pretty quick. Obviously I'm not the only one with this experience, so I wasn't surprised to discover someone was selling this on Etsy! It puts all the weight on the forehead and unblocks your peripheral vision. Giving all the comfort of the Quest Pro without compromising on UX and visual fidelity. I'll admit it makes it 100x dorkier, but I can make it through an 8 hour work day without taking it off, so it's worth it. #visionpro #spatialcomputing #mixedreality

Phases of production All of this work can seem overwhelming, so professionals break up large projects into manageable chunks with phases of production. These phases are: Pre-production is the work done before full-scale production begins, such as planning, prototyping, pipeline setup, and initial designs. Production is creation of the product and assets within it, including the creation of final 2D images and 3D models, audio, lighting, and user experience. Post-production is work done after the final product appears to be complete, including quality assurance (QA), editing, testing, bug fixing, and final polishing. They are in-tune with and constantly thinking about good UX within games. They have a great sense for the proper presentation of information in interfaces. They are eager to work closely and collaborate with others, including those outside of their discipline. They are a self-starter, smart, resourceful, and able to execute on tasks consistently throughout the project. I will have a bi-weekly #VisionPro Workshop coming soon. It is fun to learn VisionPro and get to see how we can make some cool stuff for it. 👩💻 Here are my thoughts after studying some VisionPro materials: 1. All the design elements are inside the coding package and are pretty much ready to go. In the past, developers need design assets from designers for app/web development. Now I can see developers can pretty much work solo without designers' help, a lot of elements are ready to go, including fonts, settings, and templates...😳 2. I like how Apple is defining the rules for spatial computing. Such as "share space" v.s "full space", and "window" v.s. "volume". It helps to standardize the terms and design rules. 3. I think VisionPro is a mixed tool of design + development. Since it has so many templates through SwiftUI/ XCode, I think the XR development will be more solid. 4. I think the current UX designers need to upskill/reskill. Figma/Galileo ai can pretty much do AI prompt designs. Now AI can create a single screen but later might be an entire flow. Maybe what designers can do is more of a high-level optimization of the experience/user flow. I can see that spatial computing will be the next step for UX designers. Currently, the UX designers are oversaturated due to massive layoffs this year and COVID (people become UX designers).
