According to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), over 20% of new cars sold in the EU are now electrically chargeable. Hispano Suiza, member of the European Small Volume Car Manufacturers Alliance (ESCA), recently unveiled their new all-electric hypercar – the Carmen Sagrera. This not only represents the perfect blend of the brand’s legacy with cutting-edge technology, but the broader commitment of our members to constantly evolving the automotive landscape of Europe. Lotus Cars Europe are also on their way to developing a fully electric fleet of vehicles. Since 2023, Lotus have committed to all new mainstream production vehicles being electric and will become a certified net-zero business through their commitment to being a SBTI (Science-Based Target initiative) organisation. Kids in a candy shop Meeting clients at their turf is something we in Esgian Shipping absolutely cherish as it gives us a unique opportunity to engage with our users at the personal level. Discussing current and future functionalities will ensure that we spend time and resources on developing insights valuable for our clients - short and long term. Yesterday Simen and Stian went on a little roundtrip down to Gothenburg in Sweden to visit our very first automotive OEMs Volvo Cars and Polestar at the latter's nice premises. We even managed to squeeze in a quick rendez-vous at Lynk & Co where we got insights into their innovative approach to both automotive sales, customer journey and well, office decor 👏 As the two travelling Norwegians are slightly "above average" interested in cars, they highly appreciated also to see some really cool cars including ZEEKR极氪's new 001 bound for the Norwegian market next year and some... well, not even launched globally. So this post is about a circular tyre... 🤔 Nothing new under the sun ? Quite the contrary ! The news may have gone unnoticed but it is another landmark in our journey towards a circular car economy: After giving a second life to waste car materials and parts with The Future Is NEUTRAL, to EV batteries with Mobilize and even to a car assembly plant with our iconic #ReFactory project, Renault Group is the first carmaker to offer retread tyres in its after-sales network (in France so far), thanks to an exclusive partnership with the French manufacturer BLACK STAR on its new brand LEONARD. In most used tyres the tread surface only is worn, so they are carefully selected and retreaded by BLACK STAR in the former Bridgestone factory in the north of France, for the first time (in the world ?) with similar processes, quality, safety, and performance standards to those of brand new premium tyres but with a drastically reduced environmental footprint: every pair of retreaded tyres diverts over 10kg of waste tyres from incineration or landfilling and spares as much crude oil and steel that won't have to be extracted from the earth, and significant amounts of energy and CO2 emissions to process them into a new tyre. So here it is, the first truly "circular" tyre... beyond its shape. #circulareconomy

In recent decades, car manufacturers in Europe have been successful in transitioning to more sustainable automotive practices. For example, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), European car manufacturers have lowered both their CO2 emissions and energy use from car production by 30% since 2005. Members of the European Small Volume Car Manufacturers Alliance (ESCA) have been at the forefront of sustainable automotive practices in recent years. In 2022, Goupil installed solar panels on the roof of their premises and on the shade of the parking lot for their staff, providing a great example of our members using their space to produce green and local energy sources. Furthermore, in their Sustainability Report for the year 2023, McLaren Automotive Ltd announced a 25% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 3 emissions from their fuel and facilities since 2019. Likewise, Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd, through their ‘Racing.Green’ strategy, achieved a 23.3% reduction in CO2 emissions per car manufactured when compared to 2022. These efforts demonstrate ESCA's commitment to environmental responsibility and paving the way for a greener future in transportation. #sustainability #netzero #europeancar #manufacturing

JOST is currently testing a NEOTRUCKS, a Renault Trucks T range tractor that has been completely retrofitted to be 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗖. 🚛🔌 🛠️♻️ The chassis and cab have been specifically adapted to meet the particular needs of trailer transport at the TRILOGIPORT pilot site near Liège in Belgium. 🔄🚛This tractor was entrusted to Renault Trucks by JOST under the CIRCULAR INNOVATION concept. This vehicle, which had spent its first life on the roads of Europe, has been totally transformed to be ecologically very efficient and adapted to the specific work of the intra-site. Completely GREEN on this activity zone, which is itself located in the heart of a protected area, it contributes to JOST's progress in the continuous reduction of its ecological footprint. In the whirlwind of current events, today's monumental decision by Møller Mobility Group (Volkswagen groups' national importer) in Norway has possibly gone unnoticed amidst the larger global focus on the ongoing conflicts in Israel and Ukraine. Starting 1 January 2024, Volkswagen will cease the sale of petrol, diesel, and hybrid cars in Norway, marking a substantial leap towards the decarbonization of mobility not only in Europe but globally.
