When I was 7 months old, I started walking. I didn't even bother trying to crawl. My mom said I always moved like I had somewhere to be. By age three, I was reading because I was so inquisitive. At seven, I decided to scale the side of my childhood home in Jamaica to climb up to the roof. Once up there, I decided that wasn't enough, so I took a big leap and jumped to the closest tree. I didn't care that I skinned up my knee. The thrill of pushing past my fear and overcoming something so challenging excited me. This habit of challenging myself followed me into adulthood. I earned four degrees before I was 30 and bought my first house, all while navigating a new city and doctoral research. I moved a lot, started businesses, failed, excelled, got better, and tried again. In March, I took another leap of faith and paused my 14-year career in DEI to take a sabbatical. I shared a vulnerable post (pinned on my profile) and a YouTube video explaining my decision. Up until that point, I've had many experiences leading and innovating. From developing two SaaS products in only a year and a half to creating and automating processes for efficiency and accessibility. To leading strategy development impacting over 10,000 employees and collaborating with DEI & HR professionals from companies like Meta, Microsoft, Teradyne, Intel, and Lyft. I'm a genius at pattern recognition and systems thinking, which allows me to create and automate business processes seamlessly. I also excel in strategic planning and program/project management, helping over nine small companies streamline and grow. In the last 14 years, I've partnered with over 150 professionals across six countries, but now I'm looking for a new challenge. During my sabbatical, I realized I work best in innovative environments that allow me to use all of my skills. I've been trying to figure out what roles and titles align with my strengths. Based on what I've shared, is there a role you know that aligns with my skill set? Or, do you know anyone looking to bring someone like me on their team? *Alt Text is added to the photo.

With your expertise and your ability to scale - I would recommend creating a role at an organization that speaks to you. Most companies have pain points or bottlenecks that just beyond their scope to see. With your ability to identify them quickly you should be able to present to an organization your vision. You speak like a six sigma black belt and as such you definitely can identify the nuances in organizations. Wishing you good luck in your professional evolution.

I love this post and I hope you’re slowly but surely restoring/recuperating. I think you and Erin R. should chat — you both are powerhouses who take on the intersection of innovation and DEI. You can do something huge together. 🤩

As a visionary, innovator, and trailblazer it CAN be challenging to determine our most aligned role or business. Women like you are multi-faceted and brilliant. I believe for women like you, there are several paths you can take and you get to choose. Listen to your intuition. Where is it leading you? What does YOUR gut Samantha (Dr. Sam) Rae, EdD, MPH say about what type of company/role to focus on?

Congratulations on your passion, talents, and success. Your skillset could be valuable in the social impact field, such as an executive or program director of a philanthropic organization, lots of strategy in these roles. If you prefer to remain in the for profit industry, a principal at a consulting firm may be a good match, there are some that specialize in technology, business operations, and other fields. I just started following you, many blessings with your next moves!

I'm a thousand percent sure that in walking in Faith that what you did has already revealed where you should be. The work you've put in on the front end has led opportunities to reveal themselves to you. I believe your lane is wherever you make it! Full autonomy with your skill set is where you thrive. Don't put that in a cage, stay free, keep creating and changing the world.

Grand rising Samantha, words I needed to hear and own. I wish the best for you. Talent like yours, will like yours WILL NOT go unnoticed. I dont currently have a lead however I WILL repost to my network. Peace and allowance for your next adventure.

A position in Higher Ed gives you the innovative environment that you need but will also give you the opportunity to teach and inspire others to get to where you are.

I’d recommend Strategic HR Management. Amazon for sure has the organizational complexity and statistical based environment I think your post speaks to. No two days are the same and the work of keeping inclusion and equity first to solve business challenges never stops. Wherever you choose to take your talent, the team will be better for it.

Success lies outside your comfort zone, I hope you are aligned with what makes your heart beat 💓
