I have been chugging whitepapers the past year and here's my frank take: Benefits (possibly): -- These papers open your mind to new methods in the industry. -- If you have trouble understanding why some tech isn't working for your company, reading the paper helps. Maybe it's not intended to be used that way. You may even get ideas around what could have gone wrong in the system internally. -- They help choose the right tech solutions based on trade-offs. Drawbacks (definitely): -- The website home page of most tech solutions are enough to tell if you should pick the solution or not. -- From startup to mid-size, nearly everything is good to go. The only thing that matters is cost (integration costs and direct costs). -- These papers take a lot of time and motivation to read. Blogs and videos have memes, wit, etc... Dry content is hard to consume. Overall, if someone is telling you to read whitepapers, it because they have the time to do so. At a startup or mid-sized org, the papers may not be worth the time (thousand-node-scale isn't necessary). Have a great week ahead!

I got an amazing mail from Biospherea (formerly Science Café) on 'Digital Declutter' and I thought to share some things. I have had two notable moments of being without a smartphone (first time for seven months, my #phone was stolen and second time for three months, my phone spoilt) and the truth is sometimes I wish I had that experience again. Why? I did better during that time spiritually, mentally, volunteering, reading, brainstorming, and so on. This is not to mean I lack digital discipline; as a matter of fact, my applications' usage are timed so they can shut down when the time has elapsed for the day. I am not a fan of reading on my phone because I might get distracted plus I like making marks and notes in my #books. The digital space can be helpful and can also be a disturbance/set a limitation. What matters is what you use it for and how. To declutter in the #digital space requires you managing time spent on apps and on your mobiles, reducing distractions so you can focus more on the productive things, set priorities, delete apps which are not frequently used, cancel some subscriptions. Biospherea (formerly Science Café)'s last note in the mail - "What truly characterizes us are the meaningful relationships we make in the digital sphere, the intentionality with which we act, and the clarity with which we focus. These things are ultimately more important than the diversity of digital distractions. The major aim of digital declutter is to allow you to effectively use digital tools. What steps are you taking to declutter yourself digitally today?" #digital #christianscientist #inspirationsight

Is it already Christmas? I think, if this happens, it's a huge step. An essential step. As much I'm fascinated by new technologies, I also believe it's healthy to keep the message clean, especially for people who don't have a clue.. Which actually includes jury and curators!
