Fluctuo's Annual Report: #Micromobility in Focus 🔍 On the eve of Autonomy in Paris, Fluctuo have released their Annual Shared Mobility Report for 2023 which delves into insightful data on shared 🚲, 🛴, 🛵 & 🚗 across 115 European cities 🌍 So whilst I have the luxury of sitting on the Eurostar on the way to the event with some semi-decent wifi I thought I'd share my key takeaways on the micromobility data 📊 1️⃣ The industry continues to Grow! 🌱 Across all shared mobility modes in the cities surveyed there are now almost 1M vehicles, an additional 60M trips were taken and overall user generated revenue increased by over €400M 2️⃣ Profitability is King (not cash) 👑 2023 was the year that economic viability, or as #VC's put it, profitability was the industry buzzword replaced e-scooters, adjusted-EBITDA, dockless and AI in previous years 👀. Expect this to continue throughout 2024 and into 2025 with more bankrupticies and M&A activity like the recent Dott/TIER Mobility merger, the reported nextbike by TIER spin-out and Superpedestrian acquisition to come. 3️⃣ Bikes are Best, and Docked Ones even Better 🚲 (based on the data) With double the average trip per vehicle per day (TVD) compared to their dockless counterparts (both 🚲 & 🛴) there the publics choice. This is evident when scooter companies are diversifying their modal mix to include bikes with fleets up 50% vs. last year. BUT... this doesn't account for public funding availability, single operator models and better tender conditions that docked bikeshare has compared to the dockless permit model. 🅿️ 4️⃣ Dockless Operator Market Share is more Consistent than Docked 📍 The Top 5 docked #bikeshare tenders in Europe saw 5 different operators with winning bids, whereas the Top 5 #dockless tenders (🚲's & 🛴's) saw Dott and Lime come out on top with RideMovi, Bird and Tier in close second. The fact that cities select a single operator for docked and multi for dockless skews the data slightly, but it is clear that the dockless market is seeing the development of European heavyweights 🥊 whilst docked operators are seemingly more national to regional in their expansion. The upcoming docked tenders in London 🇬🇧, Bilbao 🇪🇸, Munich 🇩🇪, Turin 🇮🇹 and Brussels 🇧🇪 will paint a clearer picture. 5️⃣ Europe wins the #Micromobility Ryder Cup 🇪🇺🇺🇸 And not by a small margin. 🅿️ 1.5x the number of docked bikes 🛴 3x the number of scooters 🚲 9x the number of dockless bikes Has rapid consolidation and tighter regulations experienced in North America in recent years stifled growth potential? I'm sure this years North American Bikeshare & Scootershare Association will shed more light. Did I miss anything? Shared e-scooter operator Voi Technology recently presented their progress VNV Global AB capital markets day and here is everything that you need to know: 👉 Over the last three years, industry rides have grown at 120% per year 👉 In 2022, ~50% of the cities were tendered or licensed, with Voi having the highest market share in tenders followed by TIER Mobility and Dott 👉 Voi's competitors have exited cities where they operate. What's surprising is that they claim Dott has exited "All Cities" which is not true. 👉 Voi is the number one operator in 76% of the European market in terms of rides and Top two in 94% of the markets. 👉 Operating cost per vehicle per day is down 50% from 2021, at ~€1.3/vehicle-day today. 👉 Scooter LTV/Cost was 3.3x in 2022 vs 1.1x in 2019 showing an improvement 👉 Voi has cut ~€20m in annual group overhead costs. In 2022, it was €52m which is ~47% of their net revenue. In 2023, it is €37m, which is ~28% of net revenue. 👉 So, Voi is expecting €132m revenue in 2023 ;) 👉 TTM EBITDA loss was €7m, net revenue was €121m and Gross profit was €58m 👉 Voi says YTD EBITDA for 2023 is positive and on track for full year positive EBITDA *image is a screen grab from a video. #transportation #mobility #escooters #voi

Karhoo and FREENOW, two companies specialized in taxi and ride-hailing, are joining forces. Karhoo, a Mobilize company, has added FREENOW’s ride-hailing supply of over 200,000 vehicles to its global B2B platform for integrated mobility. Now, users of Karhoo’s white-label apps will also be able to choose from the wide range of Freenow’s ride-hailing options including electric, hybrid, and wheelchair-accessible vehicles. In the words of Terry Coates, Chief Executive Officer of Karhoo, “By joining forces with FREENOW, we leverage our combined strengths to create a MaaS [Mobility-as-a-service] ecosystem that will transform the way people access and utilize transportation services. The addition of over 200,000 vehicles via the FREENOW platform gives Karhoo’s demand partners like Accor and SNCF Connect & Tech and their customers, greater access to efficient, stress-free mobility solutions across both new and existing territories.” This new service has been rolled out in Germany, France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Austria, Poland and Greece.
