Can you really grow without asking yourself if there's anything *you* can do better? One of the most highly rated youth volleyball coaches to come into our program, Jen Schutte, does this regularly. This time it's with the help of distinguished coach and educator BJ LeRoy. Together, these two helped our coaches understand how we can be more efficient during our practice time, so that we can be better for our youth, giving them quality time and the best chance at success. These little smiles were there as part of the learning process for our coaches. How much less daunting mistakes must be for them as players when they see such good examples of great coaches embracing opportunities for improvement.

Head of Performance Coach Education & Development at LTA | Former GB Davis Cup Coach | Former Pro Tennis Player | EMCC Qualified Executive Coach
8 Performance Coaches came out to Barcelona with me last weekend for a clay court workshop hosted by the brilliant Juanma Anton and the Full Experience Academy Team. 3 main objectives of the trip: 1. To upskill the coaches and improve how they prepare their players more effectively in the transition to clay. 2. To provoke reflection of their own day to day programmes and how they might adapt some of the clay court training on hard courts to enhance player development. 3. To spend 3 quality days talking tennis, sharing experiences and learning from each other.

Can everyone afford to play tennis? There is almost 3,200 schools in NSW and 2,200 are public...when compared to the independent school networks, public school tennis offerings can vary significantly, often reliant on teachers taking on multiple roles to create sporting opportunities for their students. This year we're investing (both financially and in staff support) to support the public school networks with the aim of making tennis competition and programming accessible for all. Following our successful Coloured Ball Competition pilot with the Primary School Sports Association (PSSA) in 2023, we're working with additional public school zones this year to create more opportunities for students. Collaboration between our national and state sporting body, local clubs and coaches and finally the school sport representatives and teachers has been key in being able to provide high quality, affordable tennis competition experiences for all. As an insight, the competition below had approximately 170 players over 10 weeks, the cost was just $6/week for a child to play and it raised almost $10,000 revenue for the local tennis club in off-peak time. The income means the local club can pay to support the local PSSA to deliver the competition, taking some of the burden off local teachers and making these competitions sustainable, more of these to come in 2024! Coach Developer | Pioneering Ecological Dynamics in Tennis Coaching | Transforming Players with Constraint-Led Methods
Redefining Tennis Success: It's Not Just About the Serve 🎾 In a candid mentoring discussion yesterday, a pivotal question arose: How can tennis truly shine amidst countless sports vying for attention? Many dive into coaching with visions of sculpting the next tennis star. But I champion a different philosophy. While I cherish those moments of on-court brilliance, they're a delightful side effect, not the main goal. At the heart of my program is the mission to sculpt resilient, well-rounded individuals. 🌟 Here's what we tackle: Mastering Life's Curveballs: Beyond just the ones on the court. Embracing Resilience: Celebrating victories and learning from the losses. The Art of Preparation: A mantra that extends way beyond match days. Unity in Play: Understanding that tennis, while an individual sport, thrives on teamwork. If a child leaves my training as a stronger person, ready to conquer life's challenges, I've hit an ace. And if they've also honed an enviable backhand? That's our bonus point! Fellow coaches, does this resonate? How do you ensure your training transcends the boundaries of the court?
