Check out the new Schultz Family Foundation white paper on how AmeriCorps state service commissions can design better and more equitable national service programs!
The National Service Challenge provided the Foundation an opportunity to be an innovative partner with eight states to pilot, expand and scale new approaches to making service accessible and impactful for more young adults. The first two years of the Challenge focused on seeding innovations that improve outcomes for young adult AmeriCorps members proximate to the communities served and engaging new public, private, and philanthropic partners in local AmeriCorps programs. The Foundation is excited to share the launch of “Increasing Access and Opportunity Through State-Led National Service Programs: Insights and Recommendations from the National Service Challenge” now available here: https://lnkd.in/gGfKXhWe #NationalService

"Volunteering on a local nonprofit board has changed my perspective on some things I used to say with ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY, and with a microphone. As an example: 'The federated model is inefficient. All organizations are on the path to single corp, without exception.' Here’s where the federated model works brilliantly. Because the national organization is protected by a separate 501c3, they don’t mess with us. We do all sorts of things that I know, for sure, would be shot down by a rigid structure. Example: we run a thrift store. When I first heard about this, my single-corporation heart fell. I thought, 'Oh no, so much energy to make so little money with no mission connection.' How wrong could I be? Very wrong." Read our latest blog here: https://lnkd.in/geAdE79p #nonprofit #volunteers #community #strategicplanning
