Very insightful study on the value of AI to analyze echocardiograms. Evaluating 3,495 transthoracic echocardiograms, by comparing initial assessment by AI or by a sonographer: - Cardiologists more frequently agreed with the AI initial assessment and made corrections to only 16.8% of the initial assessments made by AI. - The physicians were unable to tell which assessments were made by AI and which were made by sonographers. - The AI assistance saved cardiologists and sonographers time. In this model, the expert (cardiologist) remains the final expert adjudicator of the AI model output. Congrats to Susan Cheng and all authors. Today, I am heading to ACC with the mission that has always been driving my career: to have the greatest impact on improving patients lives during my lifetime. Following this mindset, I am embracing a new role. I am happy to announce that I have started a new position as Vice President, Medical Digital Health at Bristol Myers Squibb! We will be transforming healthcare by tools and services in the areas of artificial intelligence, big data and genomics to enable research and improve disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and management to help patients prevail over serious diseases. I am very excited with the opportunity and very grateful for all the support I have received from mentors, colleagues, friends and family.
