Alright, y'all. We are in the final week of accepting applications for the 2024-2025 D CEO Emerging Women Leadership Network. Now in its second year, we are honored to be able to convene and connect the region's most incredible emerging women across various sectors and backgrounds. This 6-month hybrid personal and professional development program was created specifically with emerging women in mind. Why should you or a colleague participate? 🤝 Each member is personally paired with a mentor. These relationships have blown us away; we've been so inspired by the outpouring of support from senior executives who want to pay it forward. Many thanks to all the mentors who have made this possible--you know who you are! 🎒 The curriculum is built by and for women; we bring in some of the region's leading coaches, executives, and subject matter experts whose services are normally reserved for executives at the highest levels. The application process is open for the Women Rising Leadership Academy. We encourage working women of all ages to apply. The program explores the under-representation of women in top leadership positions and offers proven and actionable strategies to help women overcome the barriers they are likely to face to their career advancement. The program involves 8, intensive workshops, each addressing a specific barrier, and teaching the tools and strategies to overcome that barrier. All workshops are based on research and science. Graduates are eligible to earn 5, follow-on coaching sessions. All coaches are ICF certified or equivalent. The Academy is offered in collaboration with CSUF, where the program has been active for 9 years with proven/studied success. There is no cost to participant or employer, other than a small, $50 materials fee. Comparable programs cost $6,000 or more. Deadline to apply is September 8, 2023. I woke up around 3:30am this morning and found myself reminiscing about one of the Impactful Leadership Mentorship Program events I hosted last year for the 2023 mentorship program cohort. See video below for a highlight of that day. And, it let me to write this post. My deepest gratitude goes to every single person that has supported me and continues to support me through my Impactful Leadership Mentorship Program. I AM, truly, because of YOU all. THANK YOU! Firstly, I need to state that women need to support each other to develop skills that enable women to be economically independent and socially confident and help create the next generation of female leaders, trailblazers and fearless world shapers. In many ways, our society is slowly turning away from gender bias and sexism more than any other time in history. Women are encouraged in traditionally masculine fields like politics, business leadership, science, mathematics, engineering, and technology. It is evident that women continue to face challenges like unequal pay, limited representation in boardrooms, and societal expectations. The gender leadership gap highlights the need for ongoing efforts to dismantle systemic barriers. And that is why is it important for women to lift each other up. As late memoirist, civil rights activist and poet, Maya Angelou, said: “When you know better you do better.” None of us can be successful without the support of others and vice versa. Women need to support each other to develop skills that will help us to be economically independent and socially confident. Above all, all women leaders should make young women and girls believe there are no limits to what they can achieve. Let it be widely acknowledged that sustainable development cannot be achieved without investing in women and reducing the inequalities they face. That is why I am an advocate of Female Mentorship programs and am the founder of the Impactful Leadership Mentorship Program. I believe that mentorship programs and networks play a crucial role in nurturing women leaders. Established female leaders have a responsibility to mentor and support the next generation, fostering a culture of empowerment and guidance. I have had amazing mentors and sponsors throughout my career. I’m proud now to serve in that same capacity, coaching and guiding aspiring professionals and future impactful leaders in business, corporate and society in general as they make their way. I also have to say THANK YOU to all the men who have mentored me, sponsored me, supported me, guided and advised me. There is a noticeable disparity in leadership opportunities for Black women, resulting in a decrease in their representation across various sectors. According to the 2023 McKinsey Women in the Workplace Report, there is a troubling trend where the promotion rates of Black women have decreased below 2018 levels. In 2023, only 54 Black women were promoted for every 100 men, a decline from the peak of 96 in 2021 and 2022. We find this trend to be disturbing, so to tackle this issue, we have introduced the Career Accelerator for Black Women, a targeted initiative designed to empower Black women to invest in their leadership development. The program also aims to assist organizations in diversifying their leadership pipelines by incorporating skilled Black female professionals. Our program caters to mid-career individuals ranging from managers to vice presidents, with titles varying based on organizational structures. We welcome both individual applicants and those sponsored by organizations. Our program revolves around three key pillars: Promotability, Community, and Enhanced Representation of Black Women in leadership positions. The intensive 4-week program provides a mix of challenging experiences, community involvement, mentorship, and customized education, following a 70-20-10 learning model. This approach ensures a high-impact, results-driven developmental journey. Enrollment is currently open for the upcoming cohorts in July, September, and November. Limited spaces are available to maintain a close-knit and supportive atmosphere for all participants. Are you interested in joining us? Did you know, data shows 76% of people think mentors are important, however, only 37% of people currently have one. At Women in PR we understand and believe in the power of mentoring. Our Women in PR x PRWeek UK mentoring programme is heading into its 11th year and we’re thrilled to be able to support more women to reach leadership positions and new career heights. But we need you! We are currently accepting nominations and registrations of interest for mentors to join the group of industry leaders and pioneers who would like to give back to women across our industry as part of our 2024-2025 cohort. We are on the hunt for diverse lived experience, perspectives and expertise from both male and female leaders in communications and PR who are interested in helping the women selected for our flagship programme advance in their careers.    Being a Women in PR x PR Week mentor is a 12-month formal commitment, with opportunities for both in-person, synchronous and asynchronous connection (through events and webinars as well as support and coaching for both mentees and mentors along the way).
