Check out this groundbreaking AI technology that is transforming the way doctors take patient notes. Lall explains how the AI Scribe compiles patient information into a SOAP note, a standard requirement for family physicians. Can AI bring us back to a more personal touch with patients? Great article here that discussed the finess of strategic application of AI to healthcare. Sometimes we can have the best tool for a job but if we don't know how to use it, it's useless or even dangerous. With instruction and practice, a tool can be applied to the jobs it does best while allowing the user more time to focus on strategic thinking instead of mundane tasks. Yes, AI certainly can make many things more efficient. The good news is we can decide how to apply it. https://loom.ly/t0_EQlY #AI #grouphealthinsurance #valuesbasedcare

This week, I'm excited to share my 2024 predictions on where AI is headed in primary care. While specifics broken down by stakeholder can be found in the blog below, here is the summative message: while we will see an increased usage of AI tools in primary care this year, the gap between what AI can do and it’s real-world usage in clinics will only widen. I discuss the concept of "velocity incapacitation", whereby there will be an inverse relationship between the speed of advancement of AI and the ability of the healthcare system to be able to leverage the advances. This may only apply until there are systematic changes that take place in the healthcare system that allow it to be dramatically remodelled. Until then, technology alone (no matter how capable) will only make incremental improvements, and it's accelerated rate of development may actually suppress uptake. At the end of the blog, I also hint at something I've been working on for some time and hope to unveil soon; a new direction in my writing and exploration on health and humanity in the age of algorithms. Last but not least, I'm additionally posting my writing on Substack for those who prefer it over Medium. I will still continue to post it on Medium as well. Stay tuned, read further below, and I look forward to the conversations that this hopefully inspires. #primarycare #ai #futureofhealth https://lnkd.in/gRtj_shu

#AI, AI holds much promise in medicine. But it must be made clear that the technology should enhance the work of doctors, not replace them. According to study, doctors spend more than 18 million hours a year doing administrative work that is unnecessary or could be done by someone else (including an AI bot, presumably.) That time suck is the equivalent of 55.6 million patient visits, and a lot of missed family dinners. Will AI replace doctors? That's highly unlikely. However, doctors who use AI smartly will replace those who don't.The human touch is essential. AI should free clinicians from the shackles of technologies that have come to dominate their work in recent decades – that begins with getting out from behind the desk, and away from the computer. Medicine cannot be reduced to a bunch of algorithms. It's art as much as science. Technologies like AI should allow doctors to get back to the basics of medicine. # AI, # RB https://lnkd.in/es4KXA2g
