Note: Suspected Chinese Electronic Intelligence Base in Cuba Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) is a category of intelligence-gathering by means of electronic sensors. ELINT involves the interception, analysis, and interpretation of non-communication signals, such as radar signals, which can provide valuable information about the electronic equipment and capabilities of potential adversaries. The key aspects of ELINT include: 💡 Interception: Capturing electromagnetic signals emitted by electronic devices. These signals are often not intended for communication but are essential for the operation of radar systems, missile guidance systems, or other electronic warfare systems. 💡 Analysis: Breaking down the intercepted signals to understand their structure, purpose, and origin. This involves identifying the frequency, modulation, pulse patterns, and other technical characteristics of the signals. 💡 Interpretation: Using the analyzed data to derive actionable intelligence. This might include identifying the type of radar or electronic system, determining its location, assessing its capabilities, and understanding the operational patterns or strategies of an adversary. About this Facility: ❗ The facility is located at the western end of the island in Bejucal, about 160 kilometers away from the U.S. mainland. ❗ The deal between the Chinese and Cuban governments to install this facility is worth several billions of dollars. ❗ The facility has been operational since 2019. This move has sparked concerns due to its proximity to many important U.S. military and intelligence facilities. ❗ Despite initial denials from U.S., Chinese, and Cuban officials, the White House has admitted that the deal exists. This is not the first time that China has set up intelligence facilities in the Western hemisphere. This development has raised concerns about potential implications for security and geopolitical balance. It’s also worth noting that there are reports of China and Cuba negotiating a new joint military training facility. If built, this could potentially station Chinese troops less than 100 miles from U.S. shores. Assuming this base is fully functional and operational, the risk assessment is a very important aspect of the threat assessment. One might assume that one station is not a threat but as I have explained the electronic intelligence, it's about sampling sensitive data from the radar, communications, and electronic equipment which are used across the defensive perimeters of the United States. Information such as the pulse configuration of the radar and electronic systems alone is a key data to be collected and analyzed as the same data can be used to map the pulse configurations and plan electronic attacks much more effectively not to mention detection of the said sites. Hostile nations do not necessarily need to establish exposed facilities such as this, They also can further upgrade and utilize the existing facilities in the host country.

Adib Enayati And what is the Biden administration going to do about it? Of course NOTHING. We are like the frog in the proverbial pot of boiling water. By the time we react (if ever), it will be too late.

Thanks for highlighting this very significant CHINESE MILITARY BASE in Cuba. The proximity equiptment displayed and under construction enable otherwise unavailable Sigint/ Elint collection and very precise potential targeting by Chinese Strategic Weapons by the newest facility. The most recent of the four sites, still being built and not previously known publicly, is at El Salao, outside the city of Santiago de Cuba in the eastern part of the country and not far from the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo. Construction there began in 2021, and the site appears designed to hold a large formation of antennas known as a circularly disposed antenna array, which can be used to find and intercept electronic signals./

Would be a shame if some random space object mysteriously fell from the sky at 10k mph and coincidentally right onto that control unit. Yup, a real shame.

There's a Chinese restaurant on the perimeter of RNAS Culdrose base in Cornwall miles from many residences. How strange?

Jason h. Excellent outline. See my colleague Dr.Adib Enayati paper todsy and my comments. The signal enviornment and attempts to manipulate are astounding. My first duty station was Karamursel Turkey 1966 FLR 9 ARRAY. From there even back in the day sites as far away as KYMTR were accessible. I recall also the first time we heard captured and forwsrded Flexible multiplex.

The base has been there for awhile. Was even a mention in the latest Grey Man book… My point being, both the USSR and the PRC had locations in Cuba. Why the concern now? New intel?

It it really a surprise, Cuba has been a staging ground for decades! Maybe if America wants to be the first to create a new AI based encrypted provisioning & routing system it would be SO worrisome!
