Today, we are celebrating ten years with the talented Jim Sangster, our shop manager. Known for his cabinetmaking skills and supportive leadership, Jim has profoundly impacted everyone he works with at Dowbuilt. Jim's calm nature stands out, especially during stressful times. He prioritizes camaraderie, kindness, and work/life balance, consistently lifting those around him. Colleagues know they can rely on him for support and feel seen and understood when they do. Despite his understated demeanor, Jim is a big deal in our shop and the Seattle music scene. His passion for music enriches the workplace, and he shares his vibrant life outside work with all his colleagues, friends, and clients. Jim's dedication to craft and service is evident in everything he does. Enthusiastic and charismatic, he brings a great sense of humor and fun to the Dowbuilt shop. His team describes him as "compassionate, personable, and crazy skilled," and we think he's a rockstar in every sense of the word. Thank you for ten remarkable years, Jim! I Am Here To Empower Leaders, Teams & Organizations. Leader in Mindfulness & Positive Psychology to elevate PWR: Performance, Wellbeing & Resilience.
Ever pondered about the purpose of your work? Let me share a story about three bricklayers, each with a different perspective on their job. The first bricklayer sees his job as merely laying bricks, a task that pays his bills. The second sees himself as a craftsman building a wall, taking pride in his skills. But the third bricklayer, he sees himself as building a cathedral, a testament to God’s grace, contributing to a mission that transcends him. This isn't just a parable. Research conducted with hospital staff paints a similar picture. Staff members who viewed their roles as a 'calling' rather than a 'job' or 'career', knowing they were serving a meaningful cause, showed significantly higher engagement and performance. They found purpose and meaning in their work because they were aware of how it was helping serve others and/or a higher cause, just like our third bricklayer. The housekeepers who realized that their work was vital in helping keep patients safe and heal were more likely to be diligent in their work and showed higher levels of engagement, performance and work satisfaction. The power of purpose, friends, is transformative. It shifts our perspective from simple task completion to contributing to a larger cause. It's about seeing beyond the bricks and mortar, and visualizing the cathedral we’re building. As we continue to dive into our work this week, let’s ask ourselves: Are we just laying bricks, building walls, or are we constructing cathedrals? The way we perceive our work can make all the difference in our engagement, fulfillment, and ultimately, our performance. A simple way to find meaning is to ask yourself how your presence is adding value to or taking strain from others, or the world? Leaders, it is up to you to connect these dots for those you lead. Remind everyone how their presence and contributions are transcending them! #Purpose #Work #Engagement #Performance #MeaningfulWork

Bestselling author | Growth interventionist | I help sales teams get in front of ten tough-to-reach, million-dollar prospects within 21 days
Ever since moving to the island, we’ve been living with an overstuffed section of pots and pans in the kitchen. For eight years, we’ve been cramming the things we used between a lot of stuff that was just taking up room. A few days ago, we pulled those out and put them in proper storage—and look at the result. Makes me wonder, where else am I overstuffing my life? I find myself opening the pots and pans cabinet and marveling at the beauty of simplicity, of everything having its place, of only keeping what needs to be there. Closets and dressers are next. After that, what am I doing in business that is merely clutter? And what could I do more of that moves everything forward a lot faster and smoother? How about for you? #simplify #sales #selling #business #growth

Award winning Estate Agent with over 15 years knowledge and experience in marketing and selling properties and making a “dream” a reality covering the areas of Abbots Langley, Kings Langley and surrounding villages
Feedback ... It's always been a touchy subject, and some agents are scared to even speak to their clients if feedback is negative or less positive than a vendor wants to hear, and oftern uses another excuse to avoid the matter. Let's face it, as AWESOME Estate Agents we need to be honest to our clients and relay any negative as it may lead to constructive criticism or advice, no matter what. We can never change the location or orientation or even size….. if that's the feedback, then it's just BS lip service as there is oftern a floor plan, street view and a compass showing the direction of gardens.. have they studied it before viewing ? However, if it's tweaking furniture layout or re-staging rooms to show a properties potential, it's worth a go ! It also helps us when speaking to clients and get a stronger understanding of what "pushes their buttons" Try and devoid emotions, HONESTY always works! ( tissues are included in my fee 😂 ) As a vendor, what would you want to hear ? #benncolling #exp #estateagent #feedbacktime #truthornot #letsbefrank #getsold #abbotslangley #watford #kingslangley #apsley

In and out the dusty bluebells... That's the plan for next week's Netwalk. In the name of planning, I'd been back through my years of bluebell photos to try and find the optimal date for them. Mother nature went early though this year... harrumph. Now I've got over something I can in no way control... Thursday 25th April. The walk is at Greenwood Park in Chiswell Green, St Albans. Walk at 10, coffee at the Lazy Llama Cafe afterwards at about 11. It's free to come. Buy your own coffee this month (unless you fancy sponsoring it whereby you will get ALL the love) I have been honing my weather whispering skillz over the last 7 walks. However, this can't last. (or will it?). The walk and coffee are outside. Dress accordingly! Dogs are welcome Mud rating... quite probably a bit squelchy and we'll be walking on grass and footpaths. Not a full code brown but definitely damp. We're a group of business people who enjoy a walk and a natter. Sometimes we even talk about what we do. You are welcome, whatever you do and whatever sector you work in. It's a stroll, not a route march. Want to take photos of the bluebells? That's cool. Parking is free at the park which is about 3 minutes from the M25 j21A or about 8 from the M1 j6. Please book via the link in the comments so we have enough cake. Priorities my friends. Priorities. Who's in? #StAlbans #networking #netwalking (picture shows a single bluebell in full indigo coloured glory again a bright green, deliberately out of focus, background. full disclosure - this was taken on the route of the July netwalk but seemed the right picture for the occasion)
