So about that fiscal cliff...
ESSER expires in 2 months and a week. Meaning this fiscal year. Meaning the leap into the great unknown of fiscal year 2025 has been leapt. Meaning the ESSER cliff has already been factored into this fiscal year's budget.
I'm sorry, I must have missed the round of applause for the 15,000 school district CFOs and business officials who navigated us through the budget season and quietly ushered us into fiscal year 2025 with, um... no great calamity?
Sure, we are back to our regularly scheduled programming of trying to stretch every dollar and students needing more than we can afford to resource, and there are exceptions related to budget tomfoolery in certain state legislature-- but by and large, this fiscal year is business as usual.
And yet there are no celebratory headlines. No praise for avoiding budgetary crises and fiscal collapse. No kudos for quiet continuity.
School district business officials have navigated this moment like absolute heroes. Thank you for your quiet, steady leadership behind the scenes, where the most impressive work often goes unnoticed. No one notices when the lights stay on every day.
A round of applause for you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
