Deciding who will support your teams will determine the success of your company. Too often, an owner decides he has to settle for a certain leader because they feel there isn't any other option. Please hear me when I say, KEEP LOOKING! Leadership can be taught, but it's secondary to the ability to lead. Picking up and reading a John Maxwell book may help you polish off the rough edges, but it will not make you a great leader until you put proper understanding, drive, and action behind it. Sales Leaders need to manage the ACTIVITIES and not the RESULTS. The results will come when the professionals do the activities to make them successful. The issue here is that Sales Reps are LAZY and most allow the customer to train them to fail and forget what they were taught to be a rockstar.
