It was an honour to be asked to help capture the essence of what it means to be Inuit. Created for the Nunatsiavut Government in collaboration with a number of generous individuals from the communities of Nain and Agvituk (Hopedale), we enjoyed every moment of helping to interpret and visualize this incredible culture. We hope you'll take a second to watch 'Our Beautiful Land', an ode to the people and culture of Nunatsiavut. ONE KEY WAY TO CREATE A LOGICAL PLOT TO IMPROVE YOUR STORIES! A TALE OF TWO CITIES The 1958 film adaptation (1) of the classic Charles Dickins novel A Tale of Two Cities boasts many virtues: Moody and evocative sets and cinematography, excellent acting, dramatic theme, but most of all a brilliantly integrated story concept and plotline. The (simple) concept of the film is: At the time of the French Revolution and Terror, two men fall in love with the same woman and wish to protect her against the savagery of the revolution by preserving her important relationships and happiness. What’s especially well done in this story is how logical and integrated is the setup of the characters and their relationships. Watch the film here then read on: https://lnkd.in/gPCtutME Very early in the film we meet the three leads: Charles Darnay (former French nobleman now in England), Sidney Carton (English lawyer and sot), and Lucie Manette (daughter of a French doctor and refugee to England). The two main men, Darnay and Carton, are tied to Lucie by their love of her. Other characters are integrated to the three leads through Lucie’s father Doctor Manette and Darnay’s relatives in France, notably the villainous aristocrat Evremonde. Other significant characters include the French husband and wife, the Defarges, who are logically integrated into the plot by being from the estate of Evremonde and by being friends of doctor Manette. Monsieur Defarge hates Evremonde for his evil and after trying to expose him was imprisoned for 18 years. Another French villain, Barsad, is earlier set up in London as a perjurer and enemy of Darnay. Barsad flees to France, where he later vengefully hunts Darnay. A female victim of the revolution is Marie Gabelle, who is logically integrated into the story by having also worked at the Evremonde estate. Now all these characters are reasonably tied together! While some may think these relationship integrations are too coincidental, I think that the integrations make the story more logical and believable. The story carefully sets up why these characters know and either love or hate each other, and this makes believable and intensely dramatic their later choices and actions regarding each other. All great stories have compelling layers to their concepts and plots. And one way to fuse these together to create more drama is through the characters being logically connected in high stake relationships. A Tale of Two Cities does this excellently and thus is a great model for creatives to study for how to create an integrated and dramatic story premise and plot line. If you want to learn more of how to create a logically integrated story concept and plot, DM me. It’s a great way to really develop your story and storytelling skills. … Scott McConnell is a story developer and script consultant. #Filmindustry #entertainmentindustry #entertainment #filmmakerslife

https://lnkd.in/gSupA-jP This short documentary film features author Akin Adesokan with an intermedial and intertextual approach to storytelling, alluding to the Afro-beat legend Fela Kuti. Directorial Statement: It challenges the perception of cinema when cinema includes multiple mediums to communicate. For instance, the verb may go beyond “seeing” in cinema and add other verbs like “reading,” “listening,” and/or “tactile.” I believe that if I need to feel an author character, I should be his/her/their reader; the same way we feel a musician character when we listen to the music, or we feel a painter/sculptor when we see the use of brushstrokes, colors, mud, ceramics, and whatnot! The beauty of cinema is that it can blend all mediums, even though that might not be comfortable to the eyes due to pre-programmed habits of perception. However, the purpose of cinema, to me, is to disrupt preconceived notions and deconstruct stereotypes of comprehensibility. To me, viewing means spectators dying to be reborn. —Shams [March 27, 2024] #intermediality #visualarts #shortdoc #akinadesokan

Q.F.- Quantum Prevention of Insolvency. Quantum film requires: screenwriter, cinematographer, editor, director and producer in one person. For the success of the mission, telepathic communication with the "actors" is necessary with the quality of invisibility in physical space (perception of the environment and not a physical phenomenon). That person could be called a quantum mechanic. A film idea that influenced the development of QF. Nicolas Roeg https://lnkd.in/dkdP5Zrd

Very interesting toughts about the film industry in general and about AI in particular. I do not have enough information about that strike in the US to understand all aspects but I'm convinced it's necessary to think about AI and human respective roles/ positions in our future civilisations. Hopefully they will find an agreement soon to end the strike and they'll find a way to reopen the discussions about AI when necessary and on a regular basis. In this case, entertainment industry paves the way for all industries.
