The modern economic system is a market economy, which is a capitalist economy where people, not the government--NOT THE GOVERNMENT--own most businesses. Maternal & Child Health. | -In Illinois, 34.3 percent of counties are defined as maternity care deserts compared to 32.6 percent in the U.S. [March of Dimes Report] -4.6 percent of women had no birthing hospital within 30 minutes compared to 9.7 percent in the U.S.  -Overall, women in Illinois have a low vulnerability to adverse outcomes due to the availability of reproductive healthcare services.  -13.7 percent of birthing people received no or inadequate prenatal care, less than the U.S. rate of 14.8 percent.  -Women with chronic health conditions have a 54 percent increased likelihood of preterm birth compared to women with none. With non-Hispanic Black women facing a maternal mortality rate of 69.9 per 100,000 live births, and a significant portion experiencing postpartum depressive symptoms, the disparities in healthcare are stark and unacceptable. This year's theme, Our Bodies STILL Belong to Us: Reproductive Justice NOW! highlights the critical need for comprehensive insurance coverage, accessible care, equitable treatment, and dedicated research to bridge these gaps. Please help spread this important message: these FAKE clinics are extremely dangerous to women. They are not licensed, legitimate health care centers yet they love to promote themselves as such. Again, they are not regulated medical facilities are not required to follow HIPPA guidelines that protect your privacy and confidentiality. And just because they have an ultrasound machine and their staff wears medical scrubs, does not make them legitimate health care professionals. Their number one goal is to prevent women from considering abortion. And rather than just advertise themselves as such, they love telling people how they provide free health care services. We have a maternal mortality crisis is this country with black and indigenous women dying 5 times the rate of white women around pregnancy. A minute wasted at one of these fake "clinics" puts women in danger of not getting the evidence based and comprehensive care and options they deserve. I continue to be amazed at how successful these “pregnancy resources centers” are at fooling the general public. Way too many people are not aware of their political agenda and are deceived into walking through their doors thinking they can receive honest health care information and services. Please help raise awareness and share this post today. We can't let them keep getting away with the disgusting levels of lies and misinformation they spew just to deny a pregnant person the informed option to terminate a pregnancy. This month, I’m shining a light on a critical issue: the disparity in maternal health outcomes for Indigenous communities. The statistics are alarming. Indigenous women are 2-3 times more likely to experience complications during pregnancy and childbirth compared to white women. These disparities are deeply rooted in challenges like limited access to healthcare, social determinants of health, and lack of cultural competency in healthcare systems. But we can be the change! Educate yourself, support legislation, and advocate for improved maternal healthcare services for Indigenous communities. Together, we can create a powerful force for change.
