Yesterday I interviewed a guest for my podcast, and halfway through the interview she popped out with this pearler…. “You’re SOOOO weird… And that’s why I love you so much!” Let me tell you, I had a silly grin on my face all day, and my heart was overflowing. Just a few short years ago that comment would have had a very different reaction from me. Knowing that I was weird… That I didn’t “fit in”... That I wasn’t perfect… I would have died inside! This is one of the reasons I kept my ‘woo woo’ side hidden behind a curtain for so many years. You see, for over 30 years I’ve used spiritual practices in my business and life. I’ve also always been very strategic, and love collecting data and reading reports. But I felt that if people knew that I planned my weeks around the energy forecast, or pulled tarot cards, that they would think I was strange.. So I continued to keep it hidden for fear of not being taken seriously. Until one day I decided that trying to hide parts of me was exhausting. I couldn’t do it anymore. Fully embracing and sharing all parts of me is what I wanted to do. And you know what? It turns out that there are entrepreneurs all over the world who just like me, also sit firmly in the middle of the ‘Brian Bro-Marketer’ and ‘Wendy Woo-Woo’ continuum. And I’m guessing that because you are reading this, that’s you too. So welcome. Great to have you here. Let’s continue to create profitable, impact driven businesses in the new way. The reality is that being ambitious and unwilling to change how you define success vs. how you defined it BEFORE you became a mom is going to burn you out! I could have said kill you or sent you to the ER....I've seen them both; and neither are necessary.... You can be ambitious. You can be unreasonable with your goals. You cannot however be swayed to think that nothing has to give or change in your approach towards the achievement of your goals....you either hire a full house staff like some moms I admire OR you change your approach and network like a savage (a good savage) to optimize your efforts. The good thing is that you have a ton of ideas once you become a mom so therein lies where you can also source ideas of how to get to your mountain peak. Makes sense? Flashback: I wrote this article before moving to Australia with 3 kids, writing Fertile Imagination, or launching my podcast. This article inspired an up and coming CFO of a Fortune 500 company to hire me because she was a new mom with a bout of insecurities of going for the role she deserved and we both were going to fight for....yes I like getting in the ring where I see wrong. That was then and she got into the C-suite. A lot has changed and following the success of my book for entrepreneur moms....my why is to ensure moms have real flexibility in how they live their lives and zero cap on their incomes.....I want to help you shatter your own ceiling as a mom in business. It’s official. On August 7th, I drove into the office for the very last time, and I’m starting the next chapter of my life as a full-time entrepreneur with zero restrictions and complete freedom. 🎉 I get to: 🌟 Set my own schedule and work from anywhere 🌟 Answer to MYSELF and only myself 🌟 Grow my business and watch my ideas turn into reality 🌟 Focus on making a positive impact in people’s lives 🌟 Connect, network, and collaborate with a wide range of people But, I’m going to be honest… Leaving the comfort and security of my 9-5 was not an easy decision. Even though it’s been my plan all along, and I craved the freedom and time to go “all-in,” actually taking the leap is scary as hell. I’ve been straddling both my corporate career and my business for 11 months, and to say I was “burned out” is an understatement. 😩 I knew it was time for a change. Time for me to actually trust in myself and my ability to make this work. Time for me to relentlessly and wholeheartedly chase my own dream and my passion. 🚀 So, I put in my two weeks, and here I am, finally making my dream come true and embarking on this exciting new adventure! 🔥 How to Regain Lost Passion For Your Business Regaining passion for your business can be a process, but here’s are a few of my suggestions that may help you: 1. Reflect on your why: Take some time to remember why you started your business in the first place. What motivated you? What were your goals and aspirations? Reconnecting with your initial passion can reignite the spark. 2. Set new goals: Sometimes, feeling stagnant can lead to a loss of passion. Set new, exciting goals for your business. These goals should challenge and inspire you, giving you something to work towards. 3. Seek inspiration: Look for sources of inspiration that align with your business. Read books, listen to podcasts, attend conferences, or connect with other entrepreneurs who share your interests. Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals can reignite your passion. 4. Take a break: Sometimes, stepping away from your business for a short period can help you gain a fresh perspective. Take a vacation or engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation. You may find that your passion returns once you've had time to recharge. 5. Innovate and try new things: Explore new ideas, products, or services within your business. Embrace change and experiment with different approaches. This can inject excitement and a renewed sense of purpose into your work. MY ADVICE: To regain your passion may take you time so try being patient with yourself and allow for an opportunity to explore new possibilities. Some mistakes I've made thus far in 2023: 👎 Prematurely hired an Airtable specialist to build a system that I ultimately abandoned 👎 Prematurely hired a podcaster to launch a show that I postponed indefinitely 👎 Gave away free coaching for some folks who weren't serious about growth I could go on, but don't want this post to be too depressing 😅 Now onto the silver linings: 👉 That system I abandoned? It's because I found out it wasn't *really* addressing the needs of my members. 👉 That podcast I was unhappy with? It didn't pass the test as something people would *actually* listen to. 👉 Those folks I invested time in? I learned that altruism is great, but you have to invest into people who are willing to invest in themselves. All three of these events were "failures" that cost me in terms of time, money and headache. And yet, all three of them have given birth to new and exciting things: ✅ I'm leading a format inside 1st Gen that is genuinely helping members progress ✅ I'm launching a podcast that 1st Gen's will actually listen to and benefit from ✅ I'm learning quickly when & where to invest my time and energy None of those good things would have happened without failures. “Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.” Do you ever experience failures in your business?
