For #Ukrainian children, and the rest of the children all over the world, the best gift is #peaceandlove, going home to their country and seeing their families and friends, celebrating without the fear of air alarms and days of uncertainty. MY COMING TO AMERICA STORY - PART II In my last post about my "Coming To America'', I had begun my journey from my homeland Ghana as a teenager to begin my college experience in America and was stranded at JFK. Alone, hungry, and penniless, anxiety crept into my soul with nothing but a prayer to cling to..."Lord, please help me". Continue below....... In the tapestry of life, unexpected threads often lead to remarkable patterns. Stranded and desperate, I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to find a complete stranger, Mr. D. Yador, who emerged as my Good Samaritan. He not only provided shelter for the weekend at his apartment but also funded pocket money and a flight to my College, turning my misfortune into a transformative experience. In an ironic twist, Mr. Yador, who was at the airport to meet his wife on my flight, discovered she had missed it. Amid his own disappointment, he noticed my anxiety and frustration, offering assistance on his way home. This gesture left an indelible mark on me, fueling a commitment to pay forward the kindness I had received. Guided by my parents' teachings on service and responsibility, I identified an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in my homeland's handicraft industry. Recognizing its potential to uplift economically deprived areas, I founded African Heritage Collection in 1994. What began as a vision to promote handmade arts evolved into a platform for scores of artisans. Today, African Heritage Collection stands as a testament to the power of combining education, corporate experience, and passion for the arts to effect positive change. Working with artisans, we've created a platform for them to showcase their talents worldwide, leading to a better quality of life for their families and communities. The journey from a moment of kindness to the launch of this initiative underscores the profound impact that one positive act can have on shaping a brighter future. "There is a destiny that makes us one family. No one goes their way alone. Whatever you put into the life of others, comes back into your very own.” #EntrepreneurialJourney #KindnessInAction #AfricanHeritageCollection #MakeADifference #ComingToAmerica

November “Native American Heritage” Well it took me 50 years but I finally connected the dots of one of my Native American family lines. To celebrate, although I am dealing with long Covid for the past 18 months, I am making strides with my volunteer efforts from bed, which is also how I caught up with my ancestry As a result, I am calling in favors… Even if it’s $1, would you please help this Native American organization? The recipients are in Porcupine (SD) and the winters there get very harsh (sometimes 50 below). I chose to help meet the needs of a people who have fir generations, lived below the poverty line on reservations out west. My goal is to get them through the winter, especially the grandmothers who care for their grandchildren, while the parents go hours/days away to work in menial jobs. Much of their monies is spent on gasoline to get to such jobs or to stay near the jobs. They send whats left of their salaries home to their families, who have no running water, use wood stoves for heat and cooking in the bathroom is an outhouse We don’t think about it, but they can’t even get online or customer service telephone jobs because the scarcity of stable phone lines, internet and affordability. If you can help, please do! Wopila hau (thanks for your help, Lakota Sioux) CHUNKA LUTA https://lnkd.in/eVYp_hJD $ZITKATOSTINCAN (CashApp) @ZITKATO (Venmo) Note: When expressing gratitude in Lakota Sioux language, it is common to use the word “Wopila.” This word conveys a deep sense of thanks, and is often used in situations where someone has done something very kind or helpful. For example, you might say “Wopila tanka” to express your thanks for a generous gift, or “Wopila hau” to express your thanks for someone’s help.
