Project Spotlight: Hudson's Site 🏙 Words like "bold" and "iconic" have been attributed to the new Hudson’s Site in downtown Detroit. For Michigan-based Bedrock Management Services, it is the revitalization of the 200 block of Woodward Avenue. The centerpiece of this development effort is a 49-story skyscraper that will rise 685.4 feet, making it the second tallest structure in the city. According to the developer, it will include 1.5 million square feet of office, retail, food and beverage, hotel, residential, event and meeting, parking and open space. Spirtas Worldwide an EJ Spirtas Group, LLC Company chose to use Doka's protection screen in order to safely demolish a 12-story building as part of an expansion on the Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) campus in Nashville, Tenn. The 100-foot high protection screen, which is more often associated with construction rather than demolition, was chosen to contain and remove demolition material without impact to the nearby active work zones or the adjacent hospital. Because Spirtas had limited experience working with formwork or protection screens, Doka provided hands-on training through the step-by-step installation. #WeMakeItWork #Collaboration

Project Spotlight: Trella Uptown 🏙 The former Barringer Hotel site in uptown Charlotte is the new home to a 353-unit mixed-income residential building, called Trella Uptown—the first of its kind in North Carolina according to Inlivian (formally known as the Charlotte Housing Authority). When complete, nearly one-third of the units will be reserved for people making 80, 50, or 30% average median income. The exterior design incorporates a 1940s art deco architecture.
