During trainings, Doc Wayne's Champions Network® facilitators are often asked how we can show acceptance and care for LGBTQIA+ youth, even if they are not out or if they don't self-identify. Our Strategic Initiatives Manager, Olivia Emerich, MSW, shares ways to support young people by creating safer, more inclusive environments for them in sports and beyond. #PrideMonth

What if we treated our community like a team? Our community could be our neighbors, the parents of kids at the same school, our faith center, our family. And imagine if we could look at tht community through their strengths? Just because you don't work together, doesn't mean we don't create synergy. Just because we don't depend on one another doesn't mean we can't become interdependent. Let's build back our communities. Let's do it starting with #cliftonstrengths Let me know in the comments if you'd be interested in participating in a unique Strengths Team Building Workshop. I'll be setting up the details soon. The workshop would consist of looking at all participants through the lens of Strengths. You'll learn what each of the 34 talents means and explore ways to contribute to your own community. Once we can see the power of bringing people together - even those who don't know one another - imagine what we can do when we extend this to those closest to us. #teambuilding #communitydevelopment #inclusion #practicalstrengths Sam McDonald David Zúñiga Tamara Williams Van Horn Samir Gupte Cristen Colleen

In the spirit of Native American Heritage Month, it is crucial to recognize the significance of teaching kids about diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Lil Herbie Series Program plays a pivotal role in fostering a generation that appreciates and celebrates our differences. Educating children about diversity from an early age lays the foundation for a more inclusive society. By understanding and respecting various cultures, traditions, and perspectives, kids develop empathy and open-mindedness. Native American Heritage Month provides a unique opportunity to spotlight the rich history and contributions of Indigenous peoples, allowing children to connect with and appreciate the diversity that shapes our world. Incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into educational programs like Lil Herbie Series not only reflects our commitment to social harmony but also equips children with essential life skills. These lessons empower them to navigate a globalized world with respect and understanding, preparing them to collaborate and thrive in diverse environments. As we acknowledge Native American Heritage Month and our board member Sylvia Spivey, let's seize this moment to instill in our young learners a profound awareness of the beauty that lies in our differences. Through education and celebration, we pave the way for a future where every child feels seen, heard, and valued, irrespective of their background. To finalise our work on the ALL IN project, we published a new article: https://lnkd.in/dE-h_PsA It explores the challenges and opportunities surrounding the participation of people with disabilities in adult education. It highlights the need for appropriate concepts and political framework conditions to ensure that everyone, regardless of their abilities, has access to lifelong learning opportunities. According to Dr Michael Sommer, the project coordinator from the Akademie Klausenhof, "Inclusion requires proactive planning to ensure everyone can participate. Adult education must be accessible to individuals with different limitations, such as mobility, senses, and cognitive abilities." The article emphasizes the importance of barrier-free environments, inclusive teaching practices, and qualified staff. #inclusion #ErasmusPlus
