🌱 The EU Code of Conduct on Responsible Food Business and Marketing Practices is one of the first deliverables of the Farm to Fork Strategy and an integral part of its action plan. It sets out the actions that the actors ‘between the farm and the fork’, such as food processors, food service operators and retailers, can voluntarily commit to undertake to tangibly improve and communicate their sustainability performance. 🇪🇺 Hopefully this will inspire all food businesses out there for creating a really Sustainable Food System in the European Union #farmtoforkstrategy #sustainability #foodproduction

The whole supply chain plays an important role on having sustainable food products. From using renewable energy by companies in their daily operations, such as installation of solar panels, using biodegistors to convert waste organic materials from own operations into biogas and biofertelizers. Packaging, such as fully recycled, compostable packaging, eco-friendly packaging with PET or HDPE plastic or cellulose-based materials. Sustainable sourcing, raw materials that have been also produce on a sustainable way, for example using organic fertilizer and with a balanced use of pesticides. And finally our diets, having a balance diet where products are enriched of nutrients and vitamins that will allow the consumer use reasonable portions. We all play an important role, being interconnected with all the players of the supply chain is fundamental and also being always transparent to consumer on what they are buying. #farm2fork #sustainablefood

💡 The EU Code of Conduct on Responsible Food Business and Marketing Practices is an important part of the Farm to Fork Strategy's action plan. Its goal is to encourage food processors, food service operators, and retailers along the entire value chain to take voluntary actions to improve their sustainability performance and communicate it effectively. 📖 The final mapping report on the EU Code of Conduct on Responsible Food Business and Marketing Practices is now available. This study, commissioned by the European Commission to Ipsos in mid-2022, aimed to review and map the commitments made under the Code, to identify the extent to which these align with the objectives, and to develop a detailed understanding of the different signatories and their characteristics. 🤝 IPIFF (International Platform of Insects for Food and Feed) is proud to have joined the high-level group to promote insect farming in light of its sustainable practices and products. The European Council adopted crucial conclusions on #agriculture yesterday, focusing on the sustainability and competitiveness of our food chain. At EAPF, we support this effort and the ongoing discussions, as the text addresses the vital role of diversifying plant protein sources in the EU to provide solutions to #climate challenges.
