Today we have launched a new briefing paper: Empowering the Future. In collaboration with Youth Business International, we call on whoever forms the next government to harness the potential of young people by empowering them with the skills they need to start, grow and sustain a business. Specifically, it calls on whoever forms the next government to: 1. Clarify the future of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund for Enterprise Support Organisations in receipt of money from it\ 2. Bring Enterprise Support Organisations in at an early stage to advise on the desired outputs and measurements when government decides on the focus and scope of local government interventions  3. Fund rigorous trials by local and national government to allow Enterprise Support Organisations to test out new ways of supporting young entrepreneurs 4. Bring back the Enterprise Allowance Scheme and ensure it is more generous than other out-of-work benefits 5. Allow under-18s to open business bank accounts without credit facilities to help them separate personal and business finances from a young age 6. Ensure that the essential skills necessary to be entrepreneurial are embedded across the curriculum from primary school 7. Invest in further long-term research into the educational, social and economic impact of what works in practice 8. Give innovative edtech entrepreneurs more and better opportunities to pitch to government and schools 9. Undertake a mapping exercise to determine the extent to which young people across different ages and locations are being exposed to entrepreneurship 10. Incentivise young people to solve big problems by funding challenge prizes A big thanks to Anita Tiessen and Miranda Page at Youth Business International (YBI) for their support. Let me know what you think! We have big plans in this policy area, so let me know if you want to be involved.
