Founder, A. Hart Associates ~ Strategic business consultant helping leaders move their vision forward, faster.
For me, this time of year is board training season! As a new calendar year approaches, many organizations are welcoming new board members, getting them acquainted with their roles, and helping everyone to be on the same page about how they will work together in the coming year to drive the organization towards its vision and mission. Though it is imperative that every board member understands their role and responsibilities, few people, including nonprofit and association executives, receive training in this area. This can lead to frustration, lack of volunteer engagement, and burn-out. In my board training sessions, we go over the details of: - Getting to, and staying at, a strategic level with board leadership - The role differences between CEO, board, committees, and staff - A board member’s fiduciary liabilities - How to leverage one of the organization’s most valuable assets - the board member This week, I’m facilitating my third board training in the span of three weeks (!), and it feels great to know these boards will have the knowledge they need to hit the ground running in 2024. If your board could benefit from a better understanding of their roles and responsibilities, get in touch.

As part of the #EveryonesEnvironment programme, NPC (New Philanthropy Capital) has been discussing with young people, ethnic minority communities, Disabled people, and older people from across the UK, their views on the impacts of the climate and nature crises on their lives, and on how they would like to see charities and policymakers respond.
