IIoT/Industry 4.0 solutions for semiconductor industry

The semiconductor manufacturing industry has always been notorious for lack of collaboration and sharing any kind of data. Be it in the cleanroom, subfab or even the facilities yards. And for good reasons. If I were spending $10B plus on anything, I too would not like my secret sauce floating around on Twitter (now with a symbol X), or LinkedIn or ChatGPT. The bottom line is that the semiconductor industry is highly competitive, with companies constantly striving to gain a competitive edge. Protecting their intellectual property is crucial to maintaining their market position.   However the need for collaboration in the semiconductor industry in the areas of sustainability and cybersecurity is becoming mandatory, as they present significant challenges that require collective effort and expertise. And that is why in the recent SEMICON West 2023 conference we had industry veterans openly screaming the word ‘collaboration’ as evidenced from the keynote titles of two talks from execs of Applied Materials.   In summary, collaboration in the semiconductor industry is crucial for addressing sustainability and cybersecurity challenges. By working together, stakeholders can foster innovation, share knowledge, establish standards, and develop comprehensive solutions that benefit the industry as a whole while safeguarding the environment and digital infrastructure. And there is no Plan B because no one can do this alone.
