That Mom Lady I Shifting The Conversation From Mother-Friendly To Mother INCLUSIVE I Championing Mothers in Tech I TEDx Speaker I Best Selling Author I Storyteller I Doctoral Student
It's awards season in this part of the world, and I have already been approached by organizers wanting to grant me an award and crown me the best, for a reasonable fee (of course). So, dear event organizers as you are busy pitching awards’, securing sponsors, and booking venues to celebrate the "biggest" and the "bestest" the region has to offer. May I employ you not to celebrate an individual's ego, a company’s office size, and their deep marketing pockets. And instead, may you have the wisdom to tell the difference between showy PR moves and actual, impactful, real-life change. May you have the courage to seek out the voices and the stories muted by fancy headlines and spokespeople, and may you have the serenity to honor those who have been brave to take a stand. #realchangematters #beyondheadlines #changemakers _____________ I initiate conversations that matter. On women. On identity. On inclusion.

LinkedIn Top Voice | Management Today Women in Leadership Power List 2024 | Global Diversity List 2023 (Snr Execs) | D&I Consultancy of the Year 2022 | UN Women CSW67/68 delegate | Helping accelerate gender equity
Self-promotion. This topic comes up all the time in our women's development programmes, where we talk about the need to showcase your achievements. Every week I'm having this conversation with someone as part of our women's programmes. I've heard every excuse there is as to why a women doesn't want to do this: ➡ "My results should speak for themselves" ➡ "I don't want to be boastful" ➡ "People will think I'm egotistical" My response is always the same: Sure, your results should speak for themselves, but the reality is they don't. Busy leaders won't necessarily notice your work, you need to help them by getting used to talking about your achievements. So it is with a deep sense of irony that I now find myself hesitating to share this post. I've been doing keynote speaking for some time now, but haven't been promoting it. Somehow it still feels icky. I'm at home talking about the topic I'm so passionate about - gender equality - and seemingly at sea talking about myself. But today I'm taking my own advice and putting myself out there. Here is a showreel we've pulled together giving a taster of my keynote topics. I regularly speak on the #ThreeBarriers to Women's Career Progression, as well as the '4Ds'* that get in the way for women in the workplace. I've spoken to audiences from 20 to 1,500. Hit me up if you would like an all employee keynote or webinar on gender equality! * Oh and download our research white paper from our website if you want to know what the 4Ds are. #AcceleratingGenderEquality #ThreeBarriers #ShapeTalent https://lnkd.in/edtRCpSg

Founder | Author | Speaker on Responsible & Ethical AI | Judge Elektra Awards. Dedicated to fostering innovation and ethical practices in AI, advocating for diversity and inclusion in the tech industry.
So back in 2019 I was selected for the RedBull Amaphiko Academy. This was one of the best mentoring and coaching experiences, as well as financial support I received which lasted more than 24 months. It was there where #BeMedigitalinclusion was developed further. I did my pitch on how Black women were passed over for promotion and struggling to fit into workplace cultures. I shared how I saw no progress in technology since 2000, and recently seen a hype on diversity matters rather than inclusion. In my book She DISTUPTS, I'm talking about my lived experiences and other Black women at varying levels of seniority, where we missed leadership opportunities in the tech industry. I focus on Wealth, Health, Pay, Earning, Housing, Educational attainment gaps that Black women experience on a daily basis, it's just too much! The US has done so much research on this topic, which has helped to put black women on the agenda. More recently in 2021 the British Computer Society (BCS) and Coding Black Females (CBF) report, (where I too was personally interviewed )The Experiences of Black Women in the IT Industry, fielded in the summer of 2021 but launched last October—that found just 0.7% of Black women in the UK work in the IT industry, compared to 1.8% across the UK’s entire workforce, and 3.2% of Black people in total work in IT. This study showed that women of all backgrounds and ethnicities make up around 22% (approximately 424,000), compared to 48% of the entire UK workforce, with Black women in particular facing a wide range of obstacles, including discrimination and being accused by colleagues or superiors of being merely ‘diversity hires.’ In She, DISRUPTS, I had the autonomy to delve deeper without having the feeling that I had to change what I personally experienced. I broke down what the discrimination looked like, I also spoke about the oppressive AI tools. My book is a game changer, and I want to change the narrative! I'm all about inclusivity, a start is to include me so my children and young people can see representstion. I'm creating a 500 years legacy of real change ❤️🚀🚀🚀🚀. It's not Rocket Science! #ai #Technology #Blackwomenintech #stem
