I help digital health-enabled organizations intelligently navigate risk and expenses linked to non-compliance and under-optimized workflows.
As someone who has worked for years on this very topic with various digital health organizations, I agree with Newman-Toker who stated... “[With the] absence [of] carefully crafted regulations, innovative payment incentives, and new research resources directed to overcome key barriers to successful deployment of high-quality AI systems, risks will dominate.” We have to make sure that we are not creating digital health innovative tools and systems with blinders on. We have to demand equitable care that is compliant while keeping a human lens. AI is the future and the future is NOW ✨ Let's ensure that we are regulating in order to address and ensure the quality care that patients deserve. Check out the article that is linked in the comments to see how "Health care leaders seek regulation, transparency for AI in health industry." #healthcare #digitalhealth #healthcareai #healthequity #healthcareregulations #linkedinnews

💡 ‘Post-market surveillance when it comes to AI is really key to making sure that you are still delivering at the level you’ve shown in clinical studies.’ 💡 ‘All AI is not the same. [...] We think about AI as a ‘bucket’ and it comes with all the things we’ve read about in the news but that doesn’t mean that a regulated AI as a medical device is that same kind of phenomenon.’ Some brilliant insights from our Clinical AI Lead, Dr Dilraj Kalsi, as he joined Health Tech World's recent podcast discussing whether AI is the health tech panacea. It's generally recognised that there has been a massive increase of personal health care data available over the past few years, but no systematic method of pooling that data for the benefit of the individual. Perhaps, if there was a central system for integrating health care data, there would be a cheaper and more effective way of personalising care and we would really see the benefits of AI in processing data, enabling better outcomes for patients.

"The range of governance structures that we identified indicates a need for additional guidance, both regulatory and otherwise, for health systems as prediction and AI proliferate. Rather than concentrating responsibility for governance within organizations, multiple levels of governance that include the industry and regulators would better promote quality care and patient safety. This sort of structure would also provide desired guidance and support to the individuals tasked with governing these tools." https://lnkd.in/egcfgaGk
