Behind anything that is magical there is always an unanswered question. How to replicate it? This is how Kenneth Cloke starts his presentation on the magic in mediation in the attached video. It was brought to my attention by my mentor Seth Elliott, since anyone who seeks to make the world a better place, needs to be familiar at least to some extent with the art of building bridges of understanding between two opposing sides. A big part of it is recognising that around 99% of the true core of the issue is under the surface. There are always hidden connections and meanings. Layers of pain, anger, rage, grief and loss. A conflict is a place where people are stuck and attached to just one dimension. When the dimension of a second person is added, the conflict becomes two dimensional. The magic happens though when the mediator is skilled enough to let a third dimension emerge: the dimension of depth. You can get there by asking questions that go beyond the issue the two parties are talking about. Help them figure out their true underlying emotions, their true interests. One of the key questions to get closer to the core is: "Why does this matter to you?" Shifting paradigms and ways of thinking, restoring kindness and compassion is a highly rewarding experience. If this is something that calls you too, I highly recommend setting 45 minutes aside in your calendar to learn more about it by listening to this incredibly wise man. I couldn’t stop taking notes. Everything he says is gold. ➡ https://lnkd.in/dKUXUDe4 #mediation #IPL #conflictresolution
