SHE IS CONFIRMED! We officially have a Black woman Supreme Court Justice who sits on the highest court in this nation!
I look at her and see my mama with her full lips, chocolate-colored skin, and berry-hued lipstick.
I see my sister with her measured temperament and kindness.
I see my grandmother's strength and audacity to be first.
I see my sister-friends whose sister locs I adore.
I see Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson!
I see me. I see US. It is past due. It is here!
Recognize how her journey to the Supreme Court has mirrored daily workplace discrimination faced by those from historically ignored backgrounds--the resistance to her womanness, intelligence, Blackness, and brilliance.
AND YET, STILL WE RISE!
