🍻 Record-breaking 🚀 🍾 The Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage Company kicked off the construction of its biggest factory in the Asia-Pacific region on Monday at the Huu Thanh Industrial Park in the Mekong Delta province of Long An. 🏭 Covering nearly 20ha, the project has an estimated investment of more than US$S300 million. Once completed, it is expected to have an annual output of 800 million litres, helping enhance the company’s ability to meet consumer needs and strengthen its leading position in the Vietnamese market. 💚 The factory will also be operated with renewable energy such as biomass fuel and solar energy, helping to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions during production activities. At the same time, it will supply products with packaging made from wholly recycled plastic, and apply initiatives to save natural resources in production. 🌱 This is a strong move taken by the company in joining the Vietnamese Government's efforts in realising its sustainability commitments, especially the commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050. 🗣️ General Director of Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Jahanzeb Khan said that the Long An factory has the largest investment in the company's history in Vietnam. 🎚️ It will help raise standards for productivity and sustainable development, paving the way for the company's long-term growth and enhancing its ability to serve consumers. It is the sixth of the firm in the Southeast Asian nation. 🎯 Chairman of the Long An provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Ut said that the province recently has welcomed many large projects from investors such as Lotte, VinaCapital, Saigontel, Coca-Cola, and Aeon. Together, we aim to improve solid waste management (SWM) services in select cities and districts in Indonesia by enhancing and developing waste management infrastructure. The collaboration is expected to benefit over 9 million people. Choosing a leader with high commitment towards environmental issues is very significant !! Appreciation to Banyumas Governments, a regencies in Central Java, Indonesia because only 5% of waste generation in Banyumas will end up in the Landfills. Banyumas is one of the best practices in waste management that almost reaches zero landfill in South East Asia. During the election, one of gubernatorial candidates promised to overcome "waste emergency" that happened in Banyumas in 2017. In addition, the public refused to build a new landfill in Banyumas. Afterwards, the candidate was elected and kept his promised. Since then, the waste management became better. It created several green jobs in waste management sectors, including recycle industries, start ups, and among others. Organic waste become compost, fertilizer, animal feeds. Meanwhile, inorganic waste is recycled through circular economy. The residue will be sent to the landfill. Sustainable Consumption Starts Here: Driving Change Through Midstream and Downstream Impact Investments On March 15, we had the privilege of engaging in a thought-provoking discussion with Fitrian Ardiansyah, Bangkit Oetomo and Andy Tjia ACA of ADM Capital about the transformative potential of impact investment in the palm oil sector. Our conversation went beyond conventional approaches, as we explored the significance of addressing both production and consumption landscapes. We emphasized the importance of mirroring the jurisdictional approach on the demand side to promote sustainability across the entire supply chain. Establishing a sustainable palm oil city model similar to the one initiated by Chester Zoo in Chester, UK, is viable in Indonesia. One key takeaway was, by channeling resources into downstream and midstream initiatives, we aim to boost the availability and uptake of traceable, sustainable palm oil products in Indonesia, while simultaneously raising awareness about the importance of responsible sourcing. It's encouraging to see how partnership and strategic investment can drive positive change in industries crucial to our planet's well-being. 🌴 Embracing Sustainability: RSPO Membership as a Catalyst for Sustainable Palm Oil Practices 🌴 This morning, we had a productive meeting with Rizal Fadli and Andra Tetuko from PT. Sumber Tani Agung Resources Tbk, a prospective member eager to embrace sustainability in the palm oil industry. We discussed the significance of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) membership for palm oil growers and how it can revolutionize their approach to sustainability. PT STAR, a publicly listed palm oil company headquartered in Medan, North Sumatra, has cultivated more than 48,868.06 hectares of oil palm plantations across four provinces in Indonesia: North Sumatra, South Sumatra, West Kalimantan, and Central Kalimantan. The company manages an integrated business operation, supervising 15 palm oil estates, nine palm oil mills, one kernel crushing plant, and one solvent extraction plant powered by a biogas power plant. Joining RSPO isn't just a label—it's a powerful statement of dedication to responsible practices. By joining RSPO, growers gain access to a wealth of resources, tools, and expertise to help them produce palm oil in a way that respects both people and the planet. Waste4Change & RiverRecycle last Saturday (2/9/2023) succeeded in becoming the winner in the 2023 Climate Impact Innovations Challenge (CIIC) program, Ocean/Marine track, announced at the CIIC 2023 Grand Finale event at The Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place, Jakarta. Represented by Bagas Mukti Wibowo as Senior Business Development Executive of Waste4Change, Waste4Change presented a discussion entitled "Circular Business Model for Low-Value Plastic Recovery from Marine Environment" at CIIC 2023. This discussion shows how important it is to provide responsible management of low-value plastic to prevent it from accumulating and leaking to pollute the environment, one of which is the ocean. With this victory, Waste4Change successfully won cash prizes worth IDR 2.5 billion and various exclusive benefits, and one of them succeeded in securing investment funds worth US$ 70,000 from Rumah Group.
