Thank you to Club President Tanal B. for this powerful opportunity to join Alicia and Manju in sharing our career triumphs and tragedies. I was so impressed by the women in the room and their passion for supporting one another!

So grateful for the organizers at CANOPY and our esteemed members for #payingitforward cc: Manju Abraham, Alicia AvrachDiane Gabl KratzLaura V Fechete, P.E.Phyllis SimonAida Rivas
We had an amazing turnout on career transitions, executive job searches, and most importantly, cultivating relationships! Especially with people who have helped spur our personal and professional growth.
It was another CLUB opportunity to reflect on our career journey, the wins & losses, and the bonds formed.
This feedback says it all: "There is no formula for any given situation so it was wonderful hearing all the stories and how each individual in their industry dealt with the various challenges. It was wonderful seeing attendees supporting one another."
Some of you pointed out that The American Lawyer article below is behind a paywall, so I am reposting my original comment on Paul Grewal's origination credit post:
"As in-house counsel, I love being in a position to vigorously advocate for origination credit for attorneys to whom I am sending work.
This involves emails and follow up phone calls to managing partners to explain that, while I like and respect the firm overall, I am specifically sending work because I trust [name of lawyer] and that it is important that person receives origination credit.
Remember, origination credit isn't just for partners! Many firms have some sort of origination credit or other recognition (bonuses, etc.) for rainmaking associates.
Even if a firm does not, the ability to bring in business is what can propel an associate into the partnership.
So it is doubly important to inform firm management that an associate is the reason you are sending work. (I like to follow up with the associate later, as well, to ensure that they are receiving recognition.)"

4moThat’s so great Diane! I love the advice. Put energy into what you can control, not what you can’t.
