Today, I proudly took action with NIVA - National Independent Venue Association's #FIXTHETIX initiative by sending a letter to my congressional representatives. At RealCount, we know that tracking primary sales can be a real headache for our customers. That’s why we step in to help them track sales across 110+ ticketing companies (and counting). With so much focus on primary sales, the secondary market often flies under the radar until a problem arises. This is why we’re thrilled to offer limited secondary market tracking to our users. Today, we uncovered some eye-opening examples of how the secondary market impacts both fans and the industry: - An arena event with over 30% more tickets listed on the secondary market than are actually sold. - A free event with tickets being resold for a minimum of $62. - A record-breaking listing (for us, at least) of $57K+. To share your voice as an artist, fan, or industry professional and push Congress to finally pass comprehensive ticketing reform, fill out the form here: https://lnkd.in/emnszVsi

Hello All! I hope you had a lovely holiday weekend. I should have posted this a few days ago to give you a heads up, but I am asking everyone to please follow this link TODAY (July 9) and tell Congress you are tired of all the nonsense involved with concert ticket buying we have all come to know and (not) love. I am borrowing this messaging from my friends at MaxxMusic: This July 9th, we urge you, our friends, neighbors, fans, and supporters, to join us in support of the Fans First Act. Here's why Congress acting on these bills matters: **They prohibit the sale of speculative or fake tickets, so you never show up to an event with a fake ticket in hand, only to be turned away at the gate. **They ban deceptive marketing practices that trick you into buying illegitimate or non-venue sponsored tickets. **They guarantee up-front pricing so you see your total cost, including any mandatory fees, from the moment a transaction begins. **They provide for clear penalties and state and federal enforcement so predatory resellers are held accountable. This is not just about fixing ticketing; it's about restoring transparency and safety to an industry that we all hold dear. Let’s take action together. On July 9th, visit the “Fix the Tix” website and fill out the form that lets Congress know you want them to fix ticketing. https://lnkd.in/ebDm9Gij

URGENT NEED TODAY! Do you purchase tickets to concerts and theater? Did you know that fraud and deceptive resell practices are on the rise and it's easy to get taken? Together, we can make real change in the future of live entertainment. The ticket-buying process is a nightmare. You’ve been price gouged, sold fake tickets, hit with hidden fees, deceived into paying higher prices on fraudulent websites, and more. Well, those predatory practices hurt us too. It’s time we all take a stand. This July 9th, we urge you, our friends, neighbors, fans, and supporters, to join us in support of the Fans First Act. “Tickets for our Premiere League matches are sold within 20 minutes” – said the Head of Ticketing of a well known English soccer team last week. ⚽ If you are an event organizer, consider this similar scenario: You're running a highly successful evening theatre show, and tickets are consistently selling out within two days. 🎭 Do you apply the right pricing strategy? Perhaps not. The rapid sell-out indicates that ticket prices might have been set too low, leaving potential profits on the table. Imagine being able to adjust prices to match the high demand – you could have sold those tickets for double the price! Now, what if pre-priced tickets remain unsold? This suggests an overestimation of potential demand. What's the solution in such a situation? Offering discounts? Shrinking the auditorium size? Both scenarios could be addressed with dynamically changing prices. If demand is soaring, prices can be automatically raised. If demand is low, prices can be adjusted in real time. The extent of adjustment? It depends on various factors, and this is where the art (and AI 😉) of pricing comes into play. #PricingRevolution, #DynamicPricingMagic, #pricing, #ticketpricing, #premiereleague

When Charles Dickens went on his second reading tour, “sidewalk men”—the 19th-century version of modern-day ticket scalpers— paid bystanders to wait in mile-long queues to obtain tickets for $5 and resell them for $50. Scalping has since shifted to the internet, where online bots seize tickets in bulk to resell on secondary sites. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, ticket prices in the resale market are 41% above face value on average. https://lnkd.in/ek3ZWM3a A growing number of misleading practices and outright scams are disrupting orchestras’ ticketing operations, as online scalpers and bots sell tickets at grossly inflated prices. Some sell photocopied tickets to multiple buyers; others offer tickets that aren’t actually in their possession. As bad actors move in, orchestra marketers say they are increasingly concerned about customer relationships, such as the ability to combine emailed tickets with donation requests, parking information, and surveys. Alert to fraying audience trust, some administrators place their hopes in legal remedies and new ticketing technology. https://lnkd.in/e-Qj4dke #SweibelArts #TicketScalping

The House passed the Transparency in Charges for Key Events Ticketing (TICKET) Act to increase consumer price transparency. We now call on the Senate to pass S. 3457, the Fans First Act, which builds on the TICKET Act by including additional provisions to wholly ban speculative, or fake, tickets, to ensure that deceptive imagery on websites does not trick consumers, to increase mandatory reporting of illegal BOTS to obtain tickets, to require clear and conspicuous itemization of the ticket price and fees at the beginning of the transaction, and to provide meaningful enforcement of these provisions. *** SECURE TICKETS *** “Take That fans were given their first chance to buy tickets for the band's upcoming 2024 live tour, but huge demand meant that some were left disappointed. The highly-anticipated This Life On Tour includes four dates at Birmingham's Utilita Arena in May. Co-op members and those who pre-ordered the band's forthcoming album by the same name were given early access to the ticket sale launch on Wednesday, September 27 and while many managed to secure their place at one of the 32 scheduled shows across the UK, others were left empty-handed after being stuck in long virtual queues. Others were left stunned by the cost of tickets, which ranged from £60 up to £255 for a premium seat package. This included a 'top priced' floor seated ticket, as well as an exclusive merchandise bundle, featuring a signed A4 print, tote bag and laminate. One fan shared a screenshot of the ticket prices at Manchester, as the MEN reports, saying: "Ticket prices for Take That Manchester :(“ while another was put off from booking tickets altogether and posted: “£132 a ticket at new Co-op arena!! Exited the site without purchasing.” Secure Tickets:- ✅ PEP Sanctions Check ✅ Government ID Check ✅ Photo Identification Check ✅ Cybersecurity Article:- https://lnkd.in/eVTBxrsZ Website:- www.securetickets.uk #tickets #ticketing #digitalticketing #touts #venues #stadiums #sports #safety #safeguarding #supporters #fans #events #digitaltransformation #blockchain #NFT #consumerprotection #gdprcompliance #gdpr #news #stewards #IDVT #verification #financeandeconomy #digital #businessandmanagement #data #software #PEPSanctions #governmentid #facialrecognition #identity #productivity #development #venuesafety

I help event producers leverage their ticketing to fuel growth and drive revenue | SXSW 2024 Speaker
It’s astounding that in 2024 we’re still queuing for tickets like it’s 2004. The queue is one of my biggest pet peeves as a ticket buyer and ticketing professional. It’s why I for years have praised folks looking to take on this outdated system. One of the innovations attempting to tackle this is Tixr’s waitlist system. Instead of waiting in line and smashing the refresh button, fans can pre-authorize their credit card and receive their ticket when the organizer is ready. This gives organizers the power not just the power to capture demand before the on sale, but afterwards as well as more customers want to express their intent to buy tickets or items. Tools like this take so much of the stress out of buying tickets and have improved my personal ticketing buying experience. I’m thankful to see our industry rise to the challenge and dare to innovate. #tixr #tixrwaitlist #festivals #musicindustry #liveevents #ticketing

Criminals target those looking for tickets to live events. They try to convince people to make payments or part with their personal or financial information. Beware of anyone who only wants payment via bank transfer. Remember it’s always safest to use the secure payment method recommended by reputable online retailers and auction sites. Make sure you book tickets directly through official sellers who are members of the self-regulatory body Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers (STAR). #TakeFive #StopChallengeProtect
