This is why getting to know your people is critical in the beginning of their tenure. Meeting them where they are lets you understand how they need to be managed and what it’s going to take to create success.

And to be more challenging, every person has needs for different levels of that supervision. It's a great art and privilege to be a human manager.

And true leaders do the least bossism to grow and blossom employees and get peace in life.

High performers are usually ignored and can go weeks without 1:1s, it can lead to macro-neglect depending on the circumstances. We are also trusted to make judgment calls if there is an emergency situation. It’s still better than micro-management since the focus is typically on the low performers
