People who identify as underrepresented and women experience more burnout, likely due to systemic factors such as repetitive work. On Thursday, March 21st: 16:30 UTC, the DORA community of practice will be discussing work distribution. The discussion will start with a presentation by Michelle Irvine, a member of the DORA research team, then we will have a lean coffee discussion with the community. Visit https://dora.community/ , join the Google Group and check the calendar for more DORA related events. #DevOps #Community #DORA #burnout #workdistribution #underrepresented

A Harvard Business Review article made me reflect on my own journey with 'imposter syndrome'. As a female tech startup founder, I've often felt the whisper of 'imposter syndrome' tugging at my confidence. While building Mia - Mission Impact Academy to empower women through tech skills training, I was committed to helping women overcome this 'imposter syndrome' so they can build careers and lives they love and deserve. However, as I navigated the startup journey, I realized that the real challenge extends beyond individual empowerment. It's about fundamentally reshaping the very institution of work. It's about acknowledging and combating the biases that make workspaces unequal. It's about fostering environments that are inclusive, intersectional, and emotionally aware – where every woman feels seen, heard, and valued. At Mia, we are committed to our mission to build this future of work. Our programs are designed not only to offer women world-class tech skills but also to create a network of belonging. We provide a space for women to connect, collaborate, and thrive in an environment that celebrates their unique perspectives and identities. The transformation we're striving for won't occur overnight. Yet, each woman who gains the confidence to challenge bias, utilizes her skills to innovate, and leverages her network to effect change is a step forward. And to all the women out there doubting your worth or struggling with imposter syndrome - remember, the problem lies in the biases within our systems. At Mia, we believe in your potential. We're here to help you navigate the tech landscape, bolster your skills, and, most importantly, remind you that you're not alone. Because the future of work is not just about technology—it's about people. It's about you. Together, we can create a future of work where every woman has the opportunity to belong, grow, and lead. #Mia #InclusiveWorkforce #FutureOfWork #ImposterSyndrome #LaunchingSoon #StartupFounder #WomenInTech

How bad do we dislike BOREDOM? In a study, 2/3 of men and 1/4 of women choose to painfully shock themselves rather than sit quietly for 15 minutes. How would you resist zapping? Link to study below

I equip changemakers and charities with the practical skills, resources and confidence for effective and inclusive leadership and governance. Forbes #DEI Trailblazer #Facilitator #Speaker #NED #BoardCoach
Imposter syndrome is sometimes a thing but not always. Sometimes individuals in the workplace seek to elevate themselves and therefore consciously or unconsciously keep others down. Sometimes it's about direct or indirect discrimination. Global research by McKinsey backs up how being the 'only' in a situation leads to higher levels of burnout - and when you hold more than one characteristic not represented in the wider team, the impact on self-esteem and mental health is greater still. At the start of my career, I worked within European IT sales. There were few women. Other racially minoritised people held back office roles such as finance, HR and admin. Self-belief and a great boss helped. Despite being the Founder of Inspiring Women Changemakers (I mean, why would you choose such a brand if you're not prepared to own it), I still receive daily unsolicited invites to get over my imposter syndrome. Mate, I'm a brown, midlife woman who chose to thrive, regardless. It took a mix of strategies that included working with trusted coaches and mentors, setting and maintaining healthy boundaries, seeking development opportunities and honing my BS radar. For those who genuinely could do with support, my closed Facebook community is full of people who will support your mission, champion your work and give you a boost if and when you need it. #GenderEquity #PersonalDevelopment

Who hasn't been close to burnout or experienced it in full force? I did in my 20s and 30s before hearing the term 'burnout'. I blamed it on myself, not having the stamina to keep up with the demands of work. I'm not alone and this was evident from Wednesday night's discussion and great questions from the audience. As part of the Women In Tech Regatta and powered by SheSays Amsterdam, Kerrie Finch with Lisa Hogg, Nicolette Lazarus and Aine Dolan shared and talked hard things. - How well do we understand ourselves or are we trying to please others/society/colleagues? - How honest are we being with ourselves? - Do you know your strengths and are you playing to those? Or trying hard to be everything to everyone. - Are you listening to your gut/instinct/intuition? This should be our north star. - Hormones: This plays a big part IMO. Understand them and how they affect your mind and body. - Do you have a role model/mentor that walks the talk? Thanks for sharing and opening up the conversation. #selflove #womeninbusiness #shesaysams

Head of Cloud Marketing @Google | Innovative marketer | AI 4 Business Evangelist | Mentor | Advocate for women & girls | IAmRemarkable Platinum facilitator
Okay, who else gets super uncomfortable talking about their achievements? I've never been the type to shout my accomplishments from the rooftops. Maybe it's imposter syndrome, maybe it's just not wanting to come across the wrong way. But since I attended the first #iamremarkable workshop by Google, made me question this approach. When we don't speak up about our wins, we risk being overlooked or misunderstood. Having facilitated so many workshops, I realized many women feel uncomfortable sharing and recognizing their accomplishments. It's time for women to shed any hesitancy and champion our skills and successes. We might surprise the world with what we can accomplish! Thank you WideOps Ltd and Tech&Talk MATAM for hosting me once again and acknowledging the vital role women play in shaping successful businesses. A supportive community where women can confidently share their achievements and inspire each other is fostered by these workshops, which provide valuable practices and tips on professional and personal growth.
