The #Devereux Center for Resilient Children (DCRC) often uses imagery to share valuable information about the science of #resilience – the ability to “#BounceBack” from misfortune or change. This summer, the DCRC team offers resilience-building tips to keep our “pitchers” full – and to fill our children’s cups with all they need to flourish. A Good Life is an innovative tool for visualising the lives of people with complex support needs (most likely living in supported care environments). It reframes conversations about support, shifting the focus to lived experience and revealing opportunities for people with disabilities to lead richer and fuller lives. A Good Life was developed through a joint effort between Northcott Innovation, the UTS School of Design and Parallel Lines. Learn more about the A Good Life tool now and how we need more funding to make this available broadly throughout the disability and aged care sector. https://lnkd.in/gZNDtWgC

Anyone involved in product ideation and creation should be aware of Critical Accessibility Theory. This talk by Crystal Preston-Watson is a good starting point to become more aware of what ableism is, why education is fundamental to prevent it and understanding why having disabled people on board from the beginning should be a priority. https://lnkd.in/exVgKUEE

Discover International Centre for Life team's top tips for creating sensory bags for interactive science centres: 4️⃣ Identify what’s in the bag: Take a photo of each gadget in your bag, make one A4 with a picture of each and the name to keep in the bag. It’s handy for stocktake but also great for parents to know the names if they decide to buy the gadget their child really liked. These A4 documents are best laminated for longevity. 5️⃣ Add a pair of ear defenders: Ear defenders reduce, but do not remove all, environmental noise. Try them yourself to better understand the benefits, it’s a real game changer. 6️⃣ Create a visual story: Help your visitors prepare for their visit by providing a detailed description of the institution, displaying it on your website and putting a copy inside the bag. Tip: Use clear laminated folders to keep them neat and ensure people see them in the bag. Discover their other tips 👉 https://buff.ly/4852bZT #Ecsite #scicomm #EcsiteMembers #EcsiteTopTips

𝗠𝘆 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗨𝗶/𝗨𝘅 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗿 You can agree with me that one does not fail at what he/she is determined to do because the goal and success of every career starts from the mind, from the mind/thoughts it generates to scripting and thereafter your action is required then we know you’re good to go. One does not just get up out of the blue to start a career he/she knows nothing about, the mind must have processed it thereby allowing you make research about that particular thing that is disturbing the mind so in actual sense embarking on a journey requires direction, focus, guidelines and most importantly Target. Ragarding the principles of embarking on a journey (the journey of Ui/Ux design) I have set my goals and achievement on what I intend to accomplish in the next two years. I aimed to achieve quite a lot within this set period of time and sincerely hope it comes through. Here is the link to my infographic for two years https://lnkd.in/gusFXgfS UI/Ux design is one of the most entertaining and easy track in the tech industry, interestingr but not when I started tho. To some extent I have learn quite the basics that is why I applied for the Hng11 premium to test my knowledge in the Ui/Ux design and also to acquire more knowledge that will help me grow. Interested in tech, be it design, frontend dev or any other track join the hng11 click here https://lnkd.in/gvx_iaiV or here https://hng.tech/ until next time bye for now 😁

Human-centric #defects (HCDs) are flaws in #software caused by variations in user characteristics such as age, gender, culture and disabilities. This project aimed to understand how software practitioners perceive HCDs as well as the challenges they face in reporting, understanding and fixing them. Through surveys and interviews with practitioners, we found gaps in managing HCDs due to a lack of awareness and attention to human-centric aspects in software development. We recommended: ➡️ a feedback process with end-users ➡️ a descriptive taxonomy ➡️ automation to improve the handling of HCDs. Our report also highlights the need for more awareness and support in the software engineering community regarding human-centric aspects. Monash Information Technology Vedant C.
