Our VARO headquarters was featured in Alfred Muller’s Swiss real estate magazine, Forum, for its state-of-the-art sustainable office space. The article describes VARO Energy as "a pillar of the energy sector at the heart of Switzerland," recognising our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and employee well-being. Since February 2023, the Quadrolith in Zug, Switzerland, has been our home. And what a home 🙂! Moving to this new office has been a key step in our transformation journey. It embodies our commitment to environmental responsibility, incorporating technologies like hybrid heat pumps with geothermal probes and a photovoltaic system to enhance energy efficiency and reduce our CO2 footprint. Alongside the move, we introduced a more dynamic work environment with collaborative work spaces, healthy food offers, fitness and wellness programmes, and incentivised use of public transport. We also supported our local community by partnering with Story restaurant, part of the Zuwebe foundation, which helps people with learning difficulties, intellectual disabilities, or psychological impairments. They are a fabulous team and we are proud to work with them. Working closely with our employees, we designed a workspace that inspires, connects, and boosts collaboration. I love seeing how our open spaces, natural light, modern meeting rooms, and terrace come together - perfect if the Swiss weather allows, which it does most of the time ☀️. https://lnkd.in/dShj5rNK

The Inclusive Coworker | Writing content about the flexible workspace & coworking industry | Building a London-based creative freelance community
Sustainability is a big, big topic right now 💚 And, as coworking is today’s working model of choice, the movement is expected to strive towards creating healthy, equitable, and resilient buildings. But time is of the essence ⏰ The UK Government has set out ambitious targets for the sector to meet net zero by 2050. Back in November, The Instant Group facilitated an insightful workshop at Techspace for workspace operators (as part of GCUC UK). Here are a few tips shared... 🤝 Coworking champions collaboration. Forging strong partnerships with landlords can help both parties improve sustainability credentials in office buildings. ⭕️ A shared sense of space. Sharing resources, from small things like desks and computer equipment, to bigger amenities like kitchen facilities contributes to reducing emissions. 🔨 The nature of flex. Instead of knocking down walls, workspaces could offer their members different office size variations or support them in moving into another building under the same brand. At the workshop, everyone was open to sharing their stories about what they're doing to improve sustainability credentials. It was lovely to experience the spirit of collaboration 🤗 How are you improving the environmental impact of your workspace? Read more about the insights gleaned from the workshop in my recent piece published in Allwork.Space | FUTURE OF WORK®. 16% of the employees expressed that they feel far more productive in companies that prioritise sustainability and have green initiatives. Over the years, I’ve seen how implementing sustainable practices has made a difference in our coworking spaces at Workie. The natural light, the ambience, and the environment have pushed our teams to work harder than ever now. Here’s why these elements are the best: ✅ Resource sharing: Sharing office equipment and resources promotes a circular economy, while energy-efficient practices reduce environmental impact and operational costs. We provide shared office equipment and adopt energy-efficient practices, such as optimised lighting and ventilation, to minimise waste and reduce our carbon footprint. ✅ Natural lighting: Studies have shown that working in green spaces, surrounded by natural elements and ample natural light, can boost productivity by up to 26%. At Workie, we prioritise the integration of biophilic design, incorporating plants, natural materials, and abundant natural light to create a rejuvenating and inspiring work atmosphere. ✅ Sustainable practices: Cultivating sustainable habits within the workplace can significantly reduce environmental impact and promote a culture of environmental consciousness. From providing recycling facilities and promoting paperless operations to organising eco-friendly initiatives and workshops, we strived to create a culture of environmental consciousness. I believe that shifting our focus to sustainability in our workspaces is the best move for our future. By prioritising the environment, entrepreneurs not only contribute to a healthier planet but also build resilient, innovative, and successful businesses. As a working individual, how do you think working in green spaces has motivated you? #Workie #Productivity

“In real estate, we stand in front of a new era. On the office sector, for instance, it’s a new approach for players who have understood that a workspace should no longer be about raised floors and modular partitions. We are moving from space providers to service providers, and companies that occupy these spaces are not just tenants, but permanently assisted customers,”says Alina Necula, Country Manager of Lion's Head in Romania in an interview for The Diplomat Bucharest. Alina also commented on Lion’s Head's (member of AG Capital) business approach to the current #realestate context, market trends and #ESG factors having shaped Oregon Park's successful performance, as well as upcoming company plans for launching the first #logistics project in Romania. Check Alina’s exclusive interview below for more interesting insights on the latest state of the office market in Romania!

Bringing to market new technologies for construction and the built environment covering robotics and automation, 3D printing, safety, productivity and sustainability.
Interesting post on the demand for low-carbon office spaces in the US. It sounds like this could lead to demand for the greening existing buildings as new supply alone will not be able to keep up. It's also a good sign for Singapore. For any companies looking to set up an Asia Headquarters, Singapore's green building initiatives should lead to a good supply here. And the demand should further incentivize developers and owners to accelerate their efforts. Maybe the US can even learn from Singapore's efforts to improve the sustainability of existing buildings. https://lnkd.in/gt6miZk9 #greenbuildings #singapore
