Bookkeeper for Interior Designers | Providing financial insight by utilizing QuickBooks Online (QBO) | CEO, Vintage Grey LLC
If you were going to give your bookkeeper (or yourself) an A+ on their report card, here's what needs to be done: ✅ Reconciling your accounts in a timely manner. How can you check on this? Run your latest reconciliation reports to see the last date your account was reconciled. If it was more than two months ago, something needs to change! ✅ Correctly categorizing your income and expenses. Is your bookkeeper splitting out your interest and principal payments on your loan? Are they catching any personal expenses that accidentally went on your business credit card? Incorrectly categorizing your transactions can have big consequences at tax time! ✅ Providing you with useful financial reporting. A great bookkeeper helps you understand and track your financial performance towards your business goals! Looking for a GREAT bookkeeper? I'd love to be yours! 👋 Schedule a free consult with me at www.vintagegreyllc.com today!📆 #interiordesign #interiors #interiordesigner #interiordesignbusiness #interiordesigners #designers #design

Multi Award Winning VA | Creative & Traditional Business Support | Yoga & Wellness | More Balance, Profit & Flexibility
For all my new connections on here, let's rewind... I was an international retail buyer across own label product development and brands (clothing, furniture, nursery, toys, stationery) - man, that's a lot of product areas... ….Favourite one? Clothing & furniture - Why? I loved the product but I also loved my suppliers 🙂 It was great but very challenging - constant travel, high pressured, tight deadlines, LONG days. Fast forward 10 years, it was time to start a family 👩🍼 I had a rethink and retrained to be a qualified bookkeeper and to offer virtual administration (VA) support… …Why? There are many transferable skills from buying - negotiations, critical paths, budgeting, creativity, supplier management to name a few. Also, it feels good to help others and I can work around the children, simple 🙂 Interactive VA Ltd works with interior designers, film technicians, retail & manufacturing, wellness coaches, engineers, recruitment agencies, property developers, accounting and more. www.interactiveva.co.uk #interiordesign #creativity #virtualadmin #outsourcing #virtualassistant #retailbusiness #mentalhealth #wellnesscoach #recruitment #businessowner #va

WEEK 7: Knowing the Budget The budget process is one of the most important and having transparency between the designer and client is a must. The client needs to communicate their wants, needs, and available budget. The more a client shares their objectives, the better the final plan toward implementation. As for the designer, there are many factors to take into consideration which must be openly communicated. This will be made easier if the designer has properly researched all aspects of the project in order to better present their ideas. The more planning and research done based on the client's objectives, the better and smoother management of time and cost. Underestimating the project's budget can lead to unexpected costs and major setbacks. The designer needs to strike the balance between cost and quality using their knowledge and experience. The designer will be able to identify the scope of the work, allocate funds properly, and estimate the overall cost of the project based on the gathered information.

Bookkeeper for Interior Designers | Providing financial insight by utilizing QuickBooks Online (QBO) | CEO, Vintage Grey LLC
Most of my current clients started their business journey by DIY-ing their bookkeeping, and that's okay! If you're in the doing-it-yourself phase of bookkeeping, try these three hacks to make your life easier: 👉 Connect Your Bank Feeds Linking your bank account(s) to your bookkeeping software can help you save time on manual data entry. But, make sure to double-check any categorization rules! 👉 Set Calendar Reminders It’s way too easy to get behind on your bookkeeping when you’re doing it all yourself! Make your life easier by setting reminders for the day your bank statements are released. 👉 Don’t Mix Business & Personal Expenses Bookkeeping gets A LOT messier when you have to separate out personal expenses from your business expenses (or vice versa). Keep things clean by having a separate business bank account. If you have gone the DIY route and are just sick of doing the bookkeeping yourself, schedule a free consult with me at www.vintagegreyllc.com today! #interiordesign #interiors #interiordesigner #interiordesignbusiness #interiordesigners #designers #design

Creative Accounting Two words that don’t sit well aside one another. It conjures up thoughts of substandard accounting, tax evasion and general dishonesty. Not the image any right-minded accounting firm wants to set for itself!! Thankfully, I’ve never been particularly creative anyway! 😉 Although, I did once get a C in Graphic Design at GCSE 🤷♂️ I’m also a lefty so it should come to me naturally – it’s a birth right surely? So, when it came to designing my website, I was more than happy to leave it to someone with a lot more creative prowess. Who did I ask? My partner Eve Saville, she’s put up with me for 12 years already so what better way to test our relationship than asking her to constantly fine tune and tweak the design of my website. I couldn’t be happier with the finished product! It clearly represents the brand she has worked tirelessly to put together for me. If I’ve learnt nothing else during the process, it’s to make sure you have a defined color pallet. I guess that saves my website having zero continuity with my brand and, quite frankly, resembling a 5-year-olds sheer excitement to use every color marker pen in their Crayola set. Strategic Accountant (t/o $2M-$30M) Architects, Maritime + Transport | MBA FCA FCPA | Author | See where you are headed and stay on track
...said the Director of an Architecture firm after another disappointing month. " Well, your departments Utilization is a tick under 50%. That means every second person is working on non-fee paying work. They aren't weighing your projects down, but they are weighing the company P+L down. The P+L doesn't lie" Digging into a bit further revealed that a big chunk of time was going towards marketing. Staff were told to use the marketing charge code for early stage design - "because if we don't win the job that time is dead" But if you do win the job and all the design work has been paid for under the marketing overhead code - that is a massive 'leg-up' for the project. With a massive 'leg-up' (like an approved schematic design) it is no wonder the projects were all showing big profits. Had the early stage design been costed against the project, the job-costs would have been much more in line with the actual P+L. #archiects #architecture #virtualcfo
