It was a privilege for the Denver Police Museum to partner with the Blair Caldwell African American Research Library and The Denver Black Police Officer's Organization to honor Robert C. White, Denver's First Black Police Chief for Black History Month 2024. We had an all star line up of speakers including Former Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, former Justice Alex Martinez, Denver City Councilman Darrell Watson, Former Councilman Albus Brooks, former Deputy Chief Matt Murray, Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas, former Denver Police Foundation Executive Director Jane Prancan and the one and only, Valerie White. Pictured below is the White Family. Thank you for your service to the Citizens of the City and County of Denver! Thanks to our friends at Channel 9 News for being there, as well! https://lnkd.in/g64gvSzD

I am so proud of this organization and the event they held recently. This is the type of newsworthy things that happen in Bayview that are not covered on Main Street media. Recently the news has covered AA in a negative way. This is definitely a win. Keep up the good work. #bayview#fathers#daughters#family#chamgethenarrative#communitywin#native#proudmoment#
Bayview at its best is when over 250 Black families fill the Ruth Williams Bayview Opera House with fathers and daughters celebrating life! This past weekend was a beautiful celebration of community and fatherhood. "Dads came through in fresh haircuts, velvet blazers and Hawaiian prints and daughters glided in princess gowns alongside proud family and community members during an afternoon and evening of joyful moments." Thank you to Paul B. of Bay Area Zap Zone for organizing and always pulling the community together. Thank you also to the wonderful community partners and awardees from the event. https://lnkd.in/g7SF_8eK

As we honor Black History Month, we are shining a spotlight on black inventors and innovators who have made significant contributions to technology and society. In addition to his contributions to civil rights and education, Thomas J. Martin made history with his invention of an improved fire extinguisher. Born in the early 20th century, Martin faced systemic challenges but remained undeterred in his pursuit of innovation and progress. In 1872, Martin patented his fire extinguisher design, which featured a more efficient and practical mechanism for extinguishing fires. His invention not only saved lives but also set a standard for fire safety equipment that endures to this day. As we honor Black History Month, let's recognize Thomas J. Martin's multifaceted legacy as an inventor, activist, and pioneer. #BlackHistoryMonth #ConnectAndProtect
