Know the difference between an RFQ or an RFP in business? Neither did we! It's hard to track all the acronyms. But these are fundamental terms in the world of business procurement. A Request for Quote (RFQ) is like a shopping list for specific pricing details when you know what you want. A Request for Proposal (RFP) is for complex projects, focusing on finding the right partner based on capabilities and compatibility, not just cost. Selecting the right process for procurement is important. Here's our guide that breaks it down, and a way to streamline the process: https://lnkd.in/gmY3YnU5

The #1 mistake I see procurement teams make with their RFPs is being too shy. Not asking enough questions about the particulars. Not asking about actual use cases for features. Not digging deeper to understand the practical aspects of what they're potentially buying. Keeping quiet during this process can have a significant negative impact with whichever supplier you end up going with. But this can be avoided if you figure out the process to come up with the right questions to find the true value in your suitors. Check out the video below to hear the story of a recent situation I encountered with a consulting client, and the approach to take to make sure this doesn’t happen to you the next time you send out RFPs.

Key checks when crafting an RFP package. 1) Get complete requirements from the business and align with all stakeholders involved right from the beginning. Avoid a scenario where you have asked your team to launch the RFP but the supplier comes back saying that it is incomplete information 2) Align on the scoring criteria and include that in the RFP as a beat practice. This ensures that the supplier is aware of the critical scoring and incorporates that in bid submission 3) Discuss the overall project timelines with the key stakeholders and make sure to include all key dates clearly in the RFP document RFP launch timeline, questionnaire deadline, any Q&A round, due date, bidder presentations, etc. 4) All the necessary documents mentioned in the scope must match with the attachments that you send as part of the RFP package Feel free to add in comments. #procurement #RFX #akhilakarra

Is your conference RFP including “wish list”? I created a process that helps companies built databases so “wish lists” can become fact lists.
