Another successful Indiana Black Expo, Inc. Summer Celebration is in the books, and we are thrilled to have helped kick it off as the Presenting Sponsor for the Business Conference. The eleven-day celebration included the Mayor's Breakfast, a health fair, live performances, and the annual Governor's Awards Reception. We also had a booth staffed by employees on June 28-30, which included Matrisha Hall-Holloway, who drove six hours with five fellow employees from our Jackson, Tennessee location to be a part of it. "I attended IBE Summer Celebration for the first time in 2023 and had never experienced such an exhilarating cultural experience before," she says. "Attending is now mandatory in my life. It does not matter who you are, it is a phenomenal event for all." For those who went to the IBE Summer Celebration, what did you enjoy the most?

How does it feel to prepare ground for planting by clearing 357 sq. ft. of weeds and filling 44 trash bags, weighing about 10 lbs. each? "It was a great experience," says Ryan Hellyer, member of our Young Professionals of DFC (YPD) employee network, who teamed up with fellow member Kristen McSorley to help organize a day of volunteering. The effort was for a Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. (KIB) custom day of service on June 16 at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church GreenSpace. "We worked alongside KIB interns and members of the congregation to clear weeds and invasive plants that had overgrown the greenspace walking paths," he says. Kudos to all volunteers who contributed to this project that helped another local environment thrive and be enjoyable again for the community. Find out more about KIB here. https://www.kibi.org/

The summer solstice marks the official start of summer and the longest day of the year. It's also a season we particularly love because so many celebrations involve water-related activities that bring people together. So, whether you'll be poolside, on a boat, or at the beach hanging out with friends, enjoy every minute of it. What’s an event or activity you're looking forward to in the months ahead?

Employee-led and self-directed, our Employee Networks serve to empower distinct populations, champion diversity, equity and inclusion, and provide ways to bring employees together around common interests, goals, and experiences. Members of one of those networks, the Delta African American Community (DAAC), were guests yesterday at our Morgantown, Kentucky site for a Juneteenth celebration. Attendees enjoyed snacks and time together, with opportunities to play games and win prizes. Employees were encouraged to stop by to learn more about this federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved people in the U.S. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a meaningful celebration.

Delta Faucet Company employees celebrated a day of service on June 6 by volunteering for various community projects, including everything from raising awareness about community partners like United Fund at the Greensburg, Indiana location, to introducing new community partners like the Boys & Girls Club at the Morgantown, Kentucky location. At global headquarters in Indianapolis, employees worked with Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity to construct wall panels, which will be assembled into a home for a local family. “This marks our 25th year partnering with Habitat for Humanity and the 25th home our employees are helping to build. Our partnership has provided meaningful opportunities for our employees to volunteer and make a lasting positive impact in the community," says Jill Ehnes, President at Delta Faucet Company. “I am so proud of our employees, no matter their location, who spent the day addressing the needs in their neighborhoods by giving back in some way.” In addition to Habitat for Humanity, Delta Faucet Company provides monetary and product donations to numerous missions and causes that improve lives, including Firefly Children & Family Alliance, Indiana Black Expo, Inc., St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the United Way. For those who were able to volunteer, how did you spend last week's day of service?
