โI designed thatโฆ and itโs one of my proudest achievementsโ mark whelan said to me as I walked out of the Havas London HQ. There are two things I love about out thisโฆ 1. An accomplished (British) leader being ok with saying โthatโs one of my proudest achievementsโ. That just doesnโt happen. 2. The proudest achievement being something physical. That you can walk on. Look at. Touch. I wrote a thing about Spatial design making a resurgence recently. And I think a return to โphysicalโ isnโt just a counter movement to all the chat about AI and screens. I think itโs primal. I think humans want to feel things again. I think itโs why Cannes was flooded with humans. And I think itโs why Brands are investing in retail, experiential, events. Either way, if you didnโt know, now you know that Mark designed those cool stairs at Havasโฆ and itโs actually a map of Kings Cross made from used metal from Kings Cross station. Luzz it. So how can you develop a noise management strategy and make your offices more sound friendly, improve productivity and make them a great place to work? On Wednesday, as part of the Clerkenwell Design Week, I'll be taking people on a journey of sounds and moods, an exploration of senses at Hushoffice. (Hush make these incredible soundproof booths.) I guarantee it'll be a fascinating, entertaining and engaging session, and itโll open both your mind and ears. On a similar note, a week later I am doing a talk on AUDIO BRANDING. Probably the most neglected area of branding within marketing. I have recently been advising a well-known drinks brand on their audio brand guidelines. Their graphic guidelines are great but the design agency has no knowledge or experience in developing ones around sound, voice and music. In today's multi-sensory world, sound/music/voice can be as important as a logo in helping consumers define and recognise your brand.
