𝐆𝐑𝐌 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐎𝐮𝐭 'If we give them a fish, We feed them for a day. If we teach them to fish, We feed them for a lifetime.' We have activated students from TIDREC @ UM of Malaysia, giving them the opportunity to upskill themselves and learn a holistic set of skills for their future careers. Special thanks to PRAVENA K of Virtual Assistance Asia (Our GRM Ambassador) for connecting us to TIDREC@UM. Academic knowledge is important but we recognize many fields are becoming ever increasingly competitive. To be successful in this tough environment, candidates for jobs have to bring along a “competitive edge” that distinguishes them from other candidates with similar qualifications and comparable evaluation results. Dear network, It has been a while since I last posted on LinkedIn. There are some reasons for that disappearance and mainly 2 new following updates I urge to share with you today. 1. I start a new job position It took me 4-month off to review my journey after landing from 1Office. At that time, I prepared and sat for an IELTS exam. When I returned to HCMC, I had some opportunities and offers in the IT field and finally, I opted to become an Account Manager at HPT Vietnam Corporation from the beginning of August 2023. This position is challenging for me because it requires more capacity than just Sales. But you never know how strong you are if you do not try. So if you have any interest and needs for the following IT products & services, feel free to approach me: - IT infrastructure and warranty services - IT human resources services - Warehouse Management System, Transport Management System, and FMCG management solutions (gifts, checkers, merchandising...) 2. I pursue a master's student at VGU Choosing to continue my studying path for a Master's degree is one of the most important decisions I made in 2023 and my total life, which is a foundation to enhance my knowledge in Business Management Systems to apply to my job and lay the first bricks for my dream mission as always: TO BECOME A LECTURER. There are a lot of ups and downs in our life. Nevertheless, everything will be okay if you believe in yourself and keep going. It is important to receive advice and feedback from others and it is even more crucial to self-evaluate by yourself. I hope that my words will be helpful in some ways. Have a productive working day. Tieu Yen. #hpt #vgu #IT #consultant #software #WMS

My Journey from Academia to the Corporate World: This is my first LinkedIn post, and I feel it’s a good time to share my humble thoughts on this topic. After my PhD, I took a bold step and joined Linde Malaysia as a Sales Executive in November 2022. Many asked, "Why sales after a PhD?" Initially, these comments gave me pause, but I forged ahead. Now, I can say it’s one of the best decisions of my life. Sales is a battlefield where titles hold little weight; what matters is your service and convincing customers of your product's value. This environment teaches resilience and the importance of character and attitude. A PhD is an advantage in sales, especially with technically-minded customers. Discussing complex details builds trust and credibility, skills honed during my PhD. Every research project harbours untapped commercial potential. As a PhD, you excel at transforming intricate ideas into marketable solutions—an essential skill for business growth. It's not merely about technical expertise; it's about charting the course to commercialization and bringing ideas to life. In sales, you hone the art of selling products, a skill essential for commercializing every concept. Many PhDs shy away from sales roles due to misplaced "shame" or prestige concerns, and some companies fear overqualification. This is a missed opportunity. More often than not, PhDs are dedicated, not geniuses. Corporates should not pedestalize PhDs excessively, nor should PhDs. Your PhD title will be appreciated in the corporate world, yes! Respect is earned through contributions and impact, and colleagues and even customers will recognize your qualifications, often calling you "Dr." In conclusion, joining a corporate role after a PhD is rewarding. It pushes you out of your comfort zone, enhances practical skills, and applies academic insights in real-world scenarios. If you're considering a shift, take the plunge—it might be one of your best decisions. #PhD #CorporateLife #Sales #Linde #PersonalGrowth #LifeAfterPhD Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences!

Strategy Alignment, Content Coordination & Talent Empowerment @ TalentCorp Malaysia | Career Facilitator @ Kejar Kerjaya | Author of #YourBestSelfBook | Milo Lover | Chief Mom Officer
I like to tell graduates to spend time finding companies and organizations that align with their personal values. Considering how we spend 8+ hours a day at work for 5 days a week, it is crucial to find a job that is so much more than just a paycheck. Of course, we all want a job that pays the bill, that can help put food on the table and a roof over our heads. But, having a job and a career that aligns with our own personal values can make it feel less of a chore. I'm sure you've read a #MarkTwain quote that says: Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life. It's a yes and no for me. Yes, find a job that you enjoy doing, definitely. But it's not that you will never have to work for the rest of your life. Instead, it can give more more motivation to actually work harder because you resonate with the work that you do. For me personally, I enjoy a place that allows me to contribute to nation-building in one way or another. In Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp), I get to explore different ways to do this. From delivering workshops for high school and university students to meeting up with industry partners and academia to discuss more on what we can do collectively to improve the talent landscape in Malaysia. Sure - I'm being pushed outside of my comfort zone here as I have to think beyond the immediate outcomes and focus on the macro-level strategic landscape. But, at the end of the day, everything comes down to one single goal - to prepare students to become Industry-Ready, Future-Ready talents for the nation. #NazuWrites #GraduateEmployability #NurturingTalents #FutureReady #NationBuilding
