There is a lot going on in our world, and the world. Context and perspective is everything. To prepare for what may be the most disruptive year ahead for brands and business, I took a trip at the end of last year to LA, then on to parts of APAC, meeting A&P's good people there, as well as brands and innovators across the West Coast of America, Australia and South Korea. The trip was inspiring for so many reasons, which I will share here over the coming weeks. Our work has always been Global - the brands, experiences and content we work with transcend geographical boarders and so do we - but being geographically located in these locations and the insights we gather from those global perspectives, allows us to help brands withstand the turbulence ahead and come ever more in sync with the communities and citizens that they are truly there to serve. This week, our focus is on Malaysia. The multi-cultural state is once again becoming a favored destination for global companies looking to relocate their production facilities. The trend is clearly exemplified by the British pioneer, Dyson, which initiated its strategic shift in 2002: Drawn by lower production costs, skilled labor, and strategic access to Asian markets, Dyson shifted its production to Malaysia, a pivotal decision that has since fueled its expansion in Southeast Asia. Further solidifying its presence in the region, Dyson moved its Global Headquarters to Singapore in 2019 and established a new Technology Center in the Philippines in 2020, demonstrating its commitment to leveraging Southeast Asia's growing role in technology and innovation.   This expansion is part of Dyson's broader vision, as outlined in a recent Forbes article, reflecting its $3.4 billion global investment plan which continues to strengthen its presence in Singapore, the Philippines, and the UK. Intel and Sony, among other industry giants, are also capitalizing on Malaysia's advantages, enhancing their global competitiveness.   Despite challenges like navigating local regulations and cultural adaptation, the strategic benefits of relocating to Malaysia are compelling. Its emergence as a manufacturing hub underscores its significance in the global business landscape, offering a potent mix of efficiency, accessibility, and an innovation-friendly environment for companies eyeing expansion in Asia.
