DLA's first-ever Hackathon was a success, where leading tech minds showcased AI and machine learning solutions to revolutionize our logistics operations. DLA Chief Information Officer Adarryl Roberts highlighted the importance of the event: “We need to be more engaged with the industry early and not wait until we have a perfect requirement to ask them to deliver. Karyn Runstrom has been named the new DLA chief of staff! "It is truly an honor to be selected for this position, and I’m humbled and excited to have the opportunity to serve DLA in a broader, more strategic role," Runstrom said. DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Mark Simerly highlighted her extensive experience and dedication to the DLA mission in his announcement. Runstrom, who began her career as an intern at DLA Troop Support in 2001, has served as DLA's deputy chief information officer and has been acting chief of staff since April. DLA acquisition professionals are gaining cutting-edge skills through the DLA Industry Partnership Management Course at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. This advanced training provides insight into private-sector business practices, empowering DLA acquisition professionals to change thought patterns and apply risk-based decision-making to current and future challenges. IPMC is comparable to graduate-level instruction and focuses on 10 areas, including data analytics, risk assessment, artificial intelligence and negotiation techniques. The next DLA IPMC is planned for next spring, open to high-performing GS-12s through 15s in acquisition roles. Interested employees should seek endorsement from their leadership and apply through their chain of command.
